I only have 4 weeks to go and DH and I aren't agreeing on any names. Please give opinions on the following...

Boys - Elliot, Darwin, Zander
Girls - Avril, Evangeline, Raina

Any other suggestions welcome although I think we have gone through them all twice now...Help!

Love your girl's names. Don't like Elliot - too popular.

macana · 06/03/2009 13:42

Elliott is a great name - not chav in any way IMO, quite the contrary. It's our favourite boys name is our next is a boy.
Of your girls names, I think Raina is pretty.

rabuxton · 06/03/2009 13:38

or Rayna?

Elliot - It's ok, it's a bit chav to me as well.
Darwin - If I was meeting a guy called Darwin I would be expecting a major geek.
Zander - I like Xander, it seems mispelt with a Z.
Avril - Avril Lavigne? No.
Evangeline - Lovely. It's on my girl's name list.
Raina - I like it, obvious to say but it does sound regal and elegant. I'd spell it Reina, which is a Spanish girl's name as I agree Raina looks a bit made up.

Eliot and Avril

lunamoon2 · 05/03/2009 22:27

Elliot and Evangeline get my vote
x

Springhassprung · 05/03/2009 17:49

Really like Darwin Avril and Evangeline, would you shorten it to Eve or Angel or Geli?

ramonaquimby · 05/03/2009 13:45

Liffeybag - not the wife to esteemed MayorQuimby am a wife to someone else though, seriously double that dh has ever posted here, rofl

dinkymum · 04/03/2009 16:20

Absoloutely LOVE Avril like all your boy names but perhaps prefer the spelling on Zander with an X? HTH and congratulations!

RachieB · 04/03/2009 16:01

I only like Elliot really ( which is so not chavvy IMO ,not round here anyway lol)

rabuxton · 04/03/2009 13:24

Darwin was thought through Charles and not Australia. I thought it was quite a powerful name regarding his lifes work.
I'm least keen on Zander and don't like Alexander, but is on DH's shortlist. Whereas Elliott is on mine and he's not taken to it for some reason.
How do I go about getting my own way, but not being a cow about it?

Thanks for all your comments.

LaDiDaDi · 03/03/2009 21:24

I like all of your boy's names but I would put Alexander on the bc and call him Xander.

Not fussed on your girl's names tbh.

hedgiemum · 03/03/2009 18:45

I think Evangeline and Avril are both pretty. Raina reminds me of Princess Diana's stepmother Raine, who she and her siblings nicknames "Acid Rain".
All your boys names are nice - my vote would be for Darwin in this anniversary year! Clever idea of yours!

Nancy66 · 03/03/2009 18:38

Not mad on any of them but Evangeline is ok I suppose.

Zander should probably be spelt Xander - but it's very try hard and naff either way as is Darwin

Elliot is a bit chav.

Raina sounds made up and Avril is a 50 year old hairdresser.

Tidey · 03/03/2009 18:23

I like Elliot and Evangeline, especially if you use Evie as a nickname. Why not Alexander, Xander for short?

SalBySea · 03/03/2009 18:23

Elliot is the only one I like

peanutbutterkid · 03/03/2009 18:21

I like Elliot.
I don't like any of the others.
April instead of Avril?

LiffeyBag · 03/03/2009 18:03

Ramona, I imagined you to be MayorQuimby's wife. But you are both posting at the same time, so either you're not married after all, or you have two laptops!

DaddyJ · 03/03/2009 17:56

Sophia Juliette Vitale?

DownyEmerald · 03/03/2009 17:51

zander is a fish - aka pike perch

Vitale · 03/03/2009 17:38

We called our daughter Maria Evangeline (born Feb 2008). Just before she was born we noticed the actress Evangeline Lilly had the name (from Lost). It put me off at first as I thought, what if the actress gets involved in some scandal. Now we have a problem what do we call our second daughter (due in June)? We both like Sophia or Olivia as a first name but cannot agree a good middle name. It has to go with the surname Vitale and not sound like something off a pizza menu.

wastingmyeducation · 03/03/2009 17:28

It's shortened to Evie in House of Elliot.
OP, have you been watching House of Elliot?

steamedtreaclesponge · 03/03/2009 16:54

I like Evangeline - and it can be shortened to Eve or Eva which are also lovely names.

Elliot is OK but don't like the rest. Agree that Alexander shortened to Zander would be better.

MrsMattie · 03/03/2009 16:53

ramonaquimby - great name!

ramonaquimby · 03/03/2009 16:51

love the name Avril and Elliot
