ds1 is called Bréagh, (pronounced bray)
we have a girls name already but cant think of a boys name that will compliment our son's. we want an irish name as our son's is irish and we dont want a name that someone we know has. any suggestions would be lovely.

Ruarai?
Pronounced "Rooree", rather than normal old Rory.

Cúan -pronounce Coo-awn.

Setanta. Great Irish legend, (and sports channel)

Ciaran with a northern accent isn't good! I knew an American called Carrick after Carrickfergus...

breaghsmum · 02/03/2009 23:04

Seamus? I like it. I met a woman with a Seamus the other day. He's four.

conor means king of ulster! didn't know that.

Rory is nice too.

I knew a boy called Tiernan, first name.

LiffeyBag · 02/03/2009 22:47

Tiernan is a sur name.

I vote Lorcan. I like Diarmuid too, but it is way poncier! But who cares!?

breaghsmum · 02/03/2009 22:37

beanieb · 02/03/2009 22:33

breaghsmum · 02/03/2009 22:32

OP posts:
stickylittlefingers · 02/03/2009 22:31

I knew a Lorcan at college. He was a bit of a weirdy beardy!!

stickylittlefingers · 02/03/2009 22:30

Shankhill is just up the road from Bray (tho it's not spelt like your ds1's name in Irish) so I spose Sean would make sense, but not at all unique! If you want unique, I guess you could find adjective you like in Irish and use it as a name... Og?

There's Donagh, Dualta, Turlough, Paraic, Ronan (tho I guess the last is better known since O'Gara!)

breaghsmum · 02/03/2009 22:29

there was a lorcan on fair city but not his real name obv.

LiffeyBag · 02/03/2009 22:28

Lorcan becoming popular in dublin, well, when I say popular, I mean have noticed a few people discussing it on rollercoaster, still don't know any in rl. Except for a much older one.

breaghsmum · 02/03/2009 22:26

i live in northern ireland. lots of family have irish names so im struggling. like lorcan, dont know any lorcans

I can't imagine anybody who in the south east of Ireland calling their child Bray!

Just an observation. It'd be like calling your child, I don't know, Surbiton!! (which is not a bad name )

How about kent?!
