Hmm, not sure whether I like it or not, I've not heard it before. But it doesn't have great nickname options - El,Ellie,Woody I don't like very much.

Whether you associate it with Harvey or not, everyone else will think Blues Bros.

Take a look at urban dictionary for definitions of wood/woody.

I'd think of the Blues Brothers too. I immediately thought of Aretha Franklin saying "and Elwood, you ain't no good". Great movie.

Is Harvey the one with the huge rabbit?! Haha! Stepdad loves that film! Love Elwood with nn Woody or Ells which is only feminine on a girl! Love Blues Bro link too. I only wonder if uncool sounding like Wilbur ect but I have a feeling it gets away with sounding cool. Is it gonna get popular??

I am having a baby and if it's a boy he's going to be called Elwood...it's a wonderful, strong and unusual name. Woody is a great nickname too!

I love the film connections but Elwood (Harvey) is a hallucinating alcoholic...

As a kid I had rabbits called Jake and Elwood.

Maybe Woody could be the nickname.

I'm the proud mama of a little boy called Elwood, named after Jimmy Stewart's splendid character in Harvey. It's a great name and receives a lot of compliments. Also, we often shorten it to Woody : )

Not sure about the name (absolutely love Harvey the film, though), but if you like it, don't worry about the El shortening, I have an Elliot, and often call him El- he certainly doesn't look girly, which helps!

Not as in Elwood blues, its from a play/James Stewart film called Harvey, the main character is called Elwood. Also means from an ancient forest according to my name book. Does any of this info make a difference?
