I think it's beautiful but husband says no. Just wondering what other people think of it!

I knew a Rosina at school, lovely name. My DD1 is Rosie too!

chipmonkey · 03/03/2009 23:15

Or you might point out to him that as a dried fruit name, it's definitely better than prune!

thorntonsbear · 03/03/2009 19:49

Thank you for all your thoughts! It's terrific there's some actual Rosinas out there - I've only heard it as the name of an opera character (Mozart, Marriage of Figaro). That made me really happy!

I will pass on comments to dh (might edit out the dried fruit connotations though... )

moondog · 01/03/2009 21:15

bytheLiffey · 01/03/2009 21:14

ah yes, of course! Well, well, I know one word of Hebrew now. Best to start with the basics. How are you? Foreskin!

chipmonkey · 01/03/2009 20:21

Ivykaty44 · 01/03/2009 20:13

My granmother was Rosina - but everyone called her Queenie, I think both are old fashioned but pretty names.

Gunnerbean is convinced I am from gipsy stock

DeeBlindMice · 01/03/2009 20:09

chipmonkey is your name banphrionsa orga?

How lovely

NorktasticNinja · 01/03/2009 20:05

I used to know a Rosin, don't think it was short for Rosina though.

Still think Rosina is lovely

chipmonkey · 01/03/2009 19:57

Liffey, Irish name beginning with O

bytheLiffey · 01/03/2009 16:09

I've never heard of this name. I'm surprised so many people know one. Is it the same rosina that you all know?

Gunnerbean · 01/03/2009 15:42

Reminds me of a gypsy's name.

petalpower · 01/03/2009 15:36

My friend's daughter is called Rosina - named after an older family member IIRC. Pretty name and lovely girl!

What is the name!? Give me a clue if you don't want to say. Is it a name I'd know, I've run through all the usual suspects in my head and I can't think of a name that means golden princess!

chipmonkey · 01/03/2009 14:18

I first found out on Mumsnet ( where else?) I think it was CountessDracula who informed ne? But then i was tol the same thing by an Israeli patient.

bytheLiffey · 01/03/2009 13:27

oh that's funny chip, did somebody from Israel feel the need to tell you this? How did you find out?!

piscesmoon · 01/03/2009 08:48

I agree with MrsMattie. I like Rosamund or Rosalind.

MrsMattie · 01/03/2009 08:34

sounds made up

Rose, Rose, Roseanna, Rosalie or the lovely Irish Roisin all much better

frazzledoldbag · 28/02/2009 20:35

I prefer Rose or Rosie TBH.
Would be worried about it being shortened to Zena?

LyraSilvertongue · 28/02/2009 20:34

What about Rosa or Rosita?
