Eddison... (Eddie)

I think it's really cool.... I've never heard of it before but my friend (baby's mum) told me it's an old english name and she got it from a website and (sure enough) it's on the website...

I think it's lovely... but my other friend (who was also there when she told us the name) thinks it's awful..

So, votes please!

No - not really..

Anything with 'son' at the end sounds kind of try-hard to me. But I am major name snob

Swiddle · 27/02/2009 11:16

I love it - so for sure my husband won't. Why are boys names so difficult?!

LucyEllensmummy · 27/02/2009 10:24

Eddison - OK, Eddie - nice - Edward - love it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/02/2009 09:53

no - don't like it

LadyPinkofPinkerton · 27/02/2009 09:33

Denny185 · 26/02/2009 22:25

gigglewitch · 26/02/2009 22:22

I really like it too, I have heard it before but an adult - it is a lovely and slightly unusual name for a baby

girlandboy · 26/02/2009 22:18

I actually really like it!

xfabba · 26/02/2009 22:17

i like surnamey names (have 2) so I quite like it.

Disenchanted3 · 26/02/2009 22:16

Maxwell Eddison, majoring in medicine...

I really like it, my son has a similar name, mentioned a few time on this thread!

hobbgoblin · 26/02/2009 22:15

I just think lightbulbs

ABetaDad · 26/02/2009 22:12

I would choose Edison as the spelling to make it easier for the child and everyone else.

Nice name though.

Also there is Edson which is a variant.

noonki · 26/02/2009 22:01

I surprise myself by liking it!

dizzydixies · 26/02/2009 21:45

exactly Contains

screamingabdab · 26/02/2009 21:41

Like Eddie (or Ted), but I'm not a big fan of those Surname-type first names. I'd call him Edward

ContainsMildPeril · 26/02/2009 21:40

Dizzy - i get you. you didn't want your DCs to have their name on backwards.

ninedragons · 26/02/2009 21:39

The surname-as-given name trend is very American (Madison, Addison, McKenzie, Cooper) and not being American, I am not a fan.

Sorry.

I love Edward, though.

diedandgonetodevon · 26/02/2009 21:33

Sorry, I don't like it

dizzydixies · 26/02/2009 21:30

not my cup of tea either but probably because our surname if SUCH a first name we discounted all surnamey names - iyswim?

ellingwoman · 26/02/2009 21:29

Reminds me of Maddison - another name I don't like

janeite · 26/02/2009 21:27

Don't like it; sorry.

nickytwotimes · 26/02/2009 21:27

No. Sorry, don't like it.
