Has Kevin surpassed naffness to enter a new era of acceptability?

I would not use the name personally, but it seems to me that a whole new raft of names have come to the fore these days, making names such as Kevin (Gary, Barry, Lee etc) seem almost quasi-respectable.

What do you think? Maybe it still needs a few more years yet.

I am married to a Kevin too - and we both hate it!

NO to Kevin's

DH keeps saying he is going to change his name to Mason.

kneedeepinthedirtylaundry · 23/02/2009 19:14

Have met two recently, both under 5.

TsarChasm · 23/02/2009 19:09

I didn't realise Harold was back in action...oh.

kneedeepinthedirtylaundry · 23/02/2009 19:07

Names like Iris and Olive, Alfie and Harold seem to have make a come back, but Doris hasn't.

As for Kevin - NO NO NO NO NO

Hassled · 23/02/2009 19:07

I've always secretly liked the name Kevin but have managed to resist the temptation to use it. Have known some lovely Kevins - and it has a nice Irish/Gaelic ring to me.

ContainsMildPeril · 23/02/2009 19:06

Susan, Janet & Linda - they'll be back too!

MrsSeanBean · 23/02/2009 19:04

Yes Tsar, when you have names such as Phyllis making an alleged comeback, it does make you wonder!

It's funny though because some of those retro revived names from 60 years ago that everyone seems to be using in a post modern ironic sort of way seem to suggest that Kevin will indeed rise again

Tidey · 23/02/2009 19:03

Or indeed Kevin the gerbil from Roland Rat, Lulubee

TigerFeet · 23/02/2009 19:03

Dior · 23/02/2009 19:01

Not until hell freezes over.

charlieandlola · 23/02/2009 19:00

No.

Lulubee · 23/02/2009 18:59

I think maybe another 50 years should do it, by which time anyone who remembers Kevin the Teenager will either be dead or senile.
