I would not use the name personally, but it seems to me that a whole new raft of names have come to the fore these days, making names such as Kevin (Gary, Barry, Lee etc) seem almost quasi-respectable.

What do you think? Maybe it still needs a few more years yet.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think Simon is okay but not the others you listed Conchita.

muffinflop · 27/06/2011 21:49

A mum in ds class was pregnant at the same time as me. She already had 2 boys, Sam and Jack. Ds came home one day and said that Sam had a new brother called Jordan, it seemed the sort of name to go with the other 2 so I believed him.

A couple of days later I got a chance to coo at said baby, and called him Jordan. Mum got quite shirty with me, very offended that I thought she'd called her baby Jordan. I apologised and asked the baby's name, I had severe problems keeping a straight face though when she said Graham!

Mytholmroyd · 27/06/2011 21:05

girliefriend · 27/06/2011 20:51

Vincent I always put in the same category as kevin, Stuart, Martin...... but it appears to be quite cool these days so maybe I am getting old Hmm

Jannie49 · 27/06/2011 20:38

WolfShapedBullet · 27/06/2011 19:32

Donna-Marie, Love it!

I met a little Vinnie not long ago, he carried it off superbly.

BatmanLovesRobin · 27/06/2011 18:32

We had a Darren a couple of years above us at school, who went out with Karen, and dumped her for Sharon. How we laughed.

AlfalfaMum · 27/06/2011 18:29

Have we had the absolute classic: Darren?

Conchita · 27/06/2011 18:13

How about:
Simon
Pauline
Patricia
Wayne
Keith
or for that exotic touch, Donna-Marie?

pointydog · 27/06/2011 17:52

Trevor's a step too far.

I like Derek though.

Dumbledoresgirl · 27/06/2011 17:25

I knew a baby called Trevor once. He would be 8 years old now. It did take all my acting skills to say "oh lovely!" convincingly when his mother (Asian) told me his name.

pointydog · 27/06/2011 17:16

I like the name Kevin. Always have. Good sounds.

LaCiccolina · 27/06/2011 17:05

My aunt said the best way to pick a name was to pretend to be in the throes of passion and say it out loud. If you giggle at it, don't pick it.

terribletriplets · 27/06/2011 14:31

Kevin is an old Irish name. As is Barry (short for Finbar). It was Kevin Keegan that started the anti-Kevin movement. Also Kevin the teenager. Kevin is a lovely name.

Fimbo · 27/06/2011 14:28

Ds knows a Denniz (said Dennis) but he is Turkish.

Goldenbear · 27/06/2011 14:26

I heard a Rita and Dennis being called over for a sandwich in the park today.

ErinGoBraLess · 27/06/2011 14:15

There's a Dorothy and a Beverley in dd's reception class.

oohlaalaa · 27/06/2011 11:27

I like the name Alan too.

oohlaalaa · 27/06/2011 11:26

Susan
Pamela

Eric

Would not use them though.

Hedwig3 · 27/06/2011 11:26
