Do you think siblings names need to "go with each other"?

I have never really understood this but I am not very good when it comes to knowing what goes and what doesn't!

My DD is Eloise and we are thinking about naming the next baby (apparently a girl) Talia. The names (to me) do sound a bit funny together but that might be a bit because I am obviously very close to DD so it isn't just a name iyswim?

Anyway, do you think it matters if the names go together or not?

When I say 'go together' I wouldn't mean similar. LIke Tilly and Holly.

I mean stylistically . Martha and Rachel.
Annie and Lottie. Phoebe and Alice.

These are siblings I know/know of.

I think Thalia and Eliose are both pretty, slightly unusual names of 3 syllables that go together very well actually.

Exactly. As long as they dont rhyme or are incredibly similar I can't see a problem. I don't understand why they have to 'go' together as some threads seem to suggest. Bit confusing if everyone in the family has the same initials too. I know someone who has 3 dd's with the same initials.

Well, mine do, and I thought it mattered. Well, you know, not life or death mattered, but I wanted them to seem like they were chosen by the same person...

Only really matters if it makes you sound slightly mad. For example, names that rhyme, names that are very similar, names that are too much along the same theme (e.g. two main characters from the same book)

I don't see what's wrong with Eloise and Talia (though I'd spell it "Thalia" personally)

I don't think that Eloise and Talia do clash - it's not like they'd be called Sunshine Rainbow and Jane, is it?
