I know this sounds silly but I cant decide if Freya is a very pretty or very ugly name.... What do you think?

Nice name but extremely popular just now, will probably date quickly.

BravoJuliet · 10/03/2010 17:58

Pretty. I only know of one where I live now. I know an adult one though.

norse goddess of beauty and love

beautiful name

Finona · 27/02/2010 22:29

Pretty, but I'm biased. Loved the name for years before having DD and wanted name with Norse origins. Can't understand people saying it's namby mamby or twee - it's a really strong name to me...which suits DD. Oh, and she's the only one I know

heQet · 27/02/2010 22:25

I think it's pretty.

I had a guinea pig called Freya.

houseworkhater · 27/02/2010 22:23

Pretty.

MamaLazarou · 27/02/2010 21:33

Frayah! Yuck!

Lovecat · 27/02/2010 21:21

I wanted Freya as a girls' name for years and years (took 10 yrs TTC) and then insane ex-sil, knowing this, nicked it for her third dd (BIL not the father).

This pissed me off inordinately until the mad cow asked me to be her friend on FB and I looked at her profile and realised she'd spelled it FRAYAH [waaah]

Freya = very pretty

Frayah = insanely ugly and horrible

MamaLazarou · 27/02/2010 21:19

Namby-pamby and twee, like Daisy or Faye.

crankytwanky · 27/02/2010 20:53

It's purdy.

Lilyloo · 27/02/2010 20:27

lovely

menomena · 27/02/2010 20:24

Gorgeous name but the popularity would bother me a little bit. I have nothing against popular names but when names get popular more or less out of nowhere then I wonder if they will sound dated later on, which would be a shame

ninah · 25/02/2010 21:47

It is OK but I know five, four in dc school which is small school!

i do like it though it was on my short list but my xh (was h at the time) didn;t like it. i got my own way with dd2 and shes Esme as i named her without consultation

bibbitybobbityhat · 25/02/2010 19:56

wishy-washy

lifeas3plus1 · 25/02/2010 19:49

It's a bit Meh for me. Like Ruby, Ava, Ellie/Ella. They are everywhere and is so common (popular) I don't even hear it as a name anymore.

RoseWater · 25/02/2010 19:48

Lovely name - know only of one

foreverastudent · 25/02/2010 19:48

Pretty but also very trendy. I think Donna Air (from Byker Grove) called her DD that.

lycheemartini · 25/02/2010 19:47

Very pretty

AllieW · 25/02/2010 19:43

I LOVE it. I know of one round here. DH won't let me use it though, even as a middle.

Lotster · 25/02/2010 18:54

Very pretty name - if I didn't alreadt know a very vain Freya it would have been on my shortlist! Although she is very pretty too.

brimfull · 25/02/2010 18:01

I don't like it but I don't think its an ugly name either.
