I've always wanted a daughter called Cosima, shortened to Mimi, but DH's surname is an object so "Cos I'm a..." is out. any suggestions what else Mimi could be short for, because he's not keen on just Mimi. HELP!!

I know an Esme nicknamed MiMi

Mrs Schmaltzy - Mirabelle is a fab name, but same problem as Mimi, not sensible enough if she wants to be Prime Minister!!!!!

Alexpolismum - it would be pronounced cozeema, but could very quickly become 'coz i'm a' in the playground unfortunately

Camilla?

i had heard about the Miriam association, but not sure i like Miriam.

Quite like Amelia.

i also love Mia but it means 'mine' in Italian (a particularly annoying phase that Italian toddlers go through!) and we might live in Italy for a bit when it's a toddler.

Miranda, or I did know someone who had an Amelia who they called Mimi

alexpolismum · 12/02/2009 14:46

Why not just keep Cosima but pronounce the i as "ee" ie Coseema. I used to know someone called Cosima who pronounced it Coseema, I didn't know you could pronounce it the other way too.

MrsSchmaltzyMerryHenry · 12/02/2009 14:46

My friend's dd is Miranda and they call her mimi. I like it as a proper name, actually, not just a nickname.
