Opinions on the boys name Spike please!

My husband keeps saying if we have a baby boy he wants to call him Spike.
Initially I thought thats a dogs name - because a girl I went to school with years ago had a little dog called Spike.
But I must admit that over time the name has grown on me - and now it mostly makes me think of a really cool little chap! What do you think? Was my first opinion right or could this be a good name? Would he have to be a certian type of boy to carry it off? What if he is shy? (ok, enough of my questions!!!)

um sort of cool but i think people may expect him to be trouble? if he is a serious sort of person in later life he may hate it

Yep, as Hensum says, fine as a nickname, but ffs don't saddle the kid with that as a name.

I think your first thought was right - it's a dog's name, not a person's.

If you must use it, give him a proper name and use it as a nickname. It is quite cute on a little boy, but can you imagine being a grown man called Spike?
