I have a friend who swears on a stack of bibles that an aquantance of hers named Mr and Mrs Royd named dd Emma and couldn't understand her shock at hearing this.

Another friend swears a child in the primary she works in is Giselle Onions. (Repeat it, and don't try and pronounce it all French like)

Also, in Stoke dialect, it you can't do something you say "I conner...". So why are there 2 kids in her school called Connor Cook and Connor Cope?

I was taught by a Sylvia Birch, but that was a cruel twist of marriage.

I have a surname which makes the say it aloud method essential.

Any other corkers out there.

there are a handful of Fanny LeCoq's on facebook

my daughter knows a Wayne King, and his brother Joe - disturbing to think there are yet others out there

my brother went to school with a richard tuer, you can shorten the first name to hilarious effect

MrsJamin · 03/02/2009 09:05

I think Paul Mycock is an urban myth.

I did know someone whose family inherited boys' name was Donald McDonald.

Deed poll must be very expensive!

Dwain Pipe

My mum went to school with someone called - Alpine McAlpine in Glasgow.

AliceTheCamelHasGotTheHump · 03/02/2009 03:55

My brother went to school with brothers Anthony and Peter Ness, or A. Ness and P. Ness, if you prefer.

I am friends with a Mary and Chris Smith which I always think sounds a bit like Merry Christmas with a lisp.

Ozziegirly · 03/02/2009 03:21

Isaac Cox - Sara Cox's son -I always wondered if she said this name for a joke and he had another, real, name.

crankytwanky · 02/02/2009 21:20

DP has a friend called Luke Luke. (His mother remarried and SD adopted him.)
Causes much hilarity on the phone; "What is your name?" Luke "And your sir name?" Luke "No sir, your second name" Luke "and your chiristian name, Mr Luke" Luke..... and so on ad nauseum.

Lovely bloke though.

Sidge · 02/02/2009 20:34

purplemonkeydishwasher · 02/02/2009 20:18

I went to school with a Sandra Klaus. she was known as Sandy

DungareesAndOranges · 02/02/2009 19:46

And I fancied him??!

spicemonster · 02/02/2009 19:45

There's a producer on Radio 4 called Jo King.

My mum knew a lady at school who was called Mary Christmas (through marriage). That's not that funny, just not a great name if you're trying to order a new kitchen or something and you want them to take you seriously
