Still TTC No. 2 at the moment. Girls names are impossible, but for a boy I am liking:

Cyrus
Tyrone
Oshian (Oshi for short)
Oren
Keir
Lukas
Amies
Bryn

DP is stuggling with all except Bryn (which is probably my least favourite) - we need a Welsh element so it may become the middle name.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LightShinesInTheDarkness · 21/01/2009 15:53

How would you pronounce Oshian, Amies and Oren, please?

They look nice written down, but if people have to ask how to say them, you will be back on here in a year's time with a thread : AIBU to expect people to be able to say my baby's name?!!

Littlefish · 21/01/2009 15:46

Bryn or Lucas. Not Lukas.

beanieb · 21/01/2009 15:33

Bryn is a boys name!

MrsMattie · 21/01/2009 15:32

Oisin

FFS

MrsMattie · 21/01/2009 15:32

sorry, even

MrsMattie · 21/01/2009 15:31

I hate them all, orry!

Agree with Sesi. There is a (fabulous) Irish boy' name Oisini (pronounced either Osh-een or Oh-sheen). Is Oshian derived from that?

Sesi · 21/01/2009 15:22

I really kind of love the name Bryn. Understated but strong name.

Keir is a close second.

Oshian/Oren sound like weird variants of the Irish name Oisin (Osh-sheen).

Lukas & Amies - ok.

Cyrus & Tyrone - awful, middle aged red neck type of names.

vess · 21/01/2009 14:50

Cyrus is nice!
Lukas ok.

honestlyandtruly · 21/01/2009 13:43

I like Cyrus. I'm thinking Cyrus the Great rather than Billy Ray.

Not keen on any of the others. Sorry.

IAteMakkaPakka · 21/01/2009 13:36

Bryn and Keir are the only two I like. Keir is probably my preference, a good strong Gaelic name.

The others either remind me of soap characters or American singers with bad haircuts, or are just a bit wanky. Sorry

devientenigma · 21/01/2009 13:32

My son is Brynley. However its usually shortened to Bryn or Brynnas.

ForeverOptimistic · 21/01/2009 13:15

Oshian is lovely. I really don't like any of the others.

missymoo2411 · 21/01/2009 13:14

cyrus is lovely and different isnt malaki irish i dont know the spelling my ds are finlay and riley there good name well i think so ...lol

othersideofchannel · 21/01/2009 12:40

I really like Tyrone, Cyrus and Bryn.

Don't mind Lukas (but VERY popular on Continent)

Don't like Oshian, Amies, Oren and Keir.

Lionstar · 21/01/2009 12:31

Oh dear, I don't think I can face up to the fact that DP might just be right on this one, even Bryn is winning out!

BTW Oshian is a Welsh variant of the Irish boys name. There are a number of spellings though. It's a name I've always liked since growing up in Wales.

Fimbo · 21/01/2009 12:28

Yep agree Cyrus makes me want to sing "achy breaky heart"

Don't like any of the rest either

downanddowner · 21/01/2009 12:20

Cyrus like Billy Ray Cyrus. Really??!!
Tyrone is ok.
Oshian (Oshi for short) is a no.
Oren pardon?
Keir nope.
Lukas is a great name!
Amies sounds like something belonging to a girl called Amie.
Bryn is ok if you are Welsh.

smurfgirl · 21/01/2009 12:20

My DH is called Bryn, he spent his life being teasted about it or called Brian, Ryan, Byron etc and changed it to his middle name when he came to uni.

He is from Yorkshire though so that may have been part of the issue.

I like Keir and Lucas.

Gorionine · 21/01/2009 12:20

Bryn is nice.

TotalChaos · 21/01/2009 12:18

I like Bryn and Lucas. I think Tyrone is awful.

WinkyWinkola · 21/01/2009 12:17

Not keen on any.

stleger · 21/01/2009 12:16

Oisin is a boy's name. Ciaran pronounced Kier-On is lovely when said correctly.Eoin pronounced as in Owen, or even spelled Owen?

skyblu · 21/01/2009 12:11

I like Keir best...but it does sound like a 'teenage' shortening of Keiran.

Quite like Bryn, but I find the others a bit 'trying too hard'

Sorry

nailpolish · 21/01/2009 12:07

if you like Oshi, why not just call him that??

nailpolish · 21/01/2009 12:07

oran is irish and means pale, or light

cyrus reminds me of hannah montana, sorry
or billy rae cyrus (lol)
