Yay or nay?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
georgimama · 14/01/2009 11:41

Beau is a name though. Boo is not. It's daft.

rempy · 14/01/2009 11:41

Grimma, a friend of mine tells a story of a man she works with christened Timo (after a rally driver of the era).

We are oop North.

He called himself Dave for most of his teens, twenties and thirties.

Now in his forties he has reverted to Timo. Some of the time.

OP, Boo to a goose? At least spell it properly.

cheesesarnie · 14/01/2009 11:39

i know a 2 male beaus.i love it.and neither chavs.

GrimmaTheNome · 14/01/2009 11:36

Blimey. If I was a boy and had been officially named 'Boo' then I'd insist on everyone calling me by my nickname which would be something like John or Dave (whatever ultra-conventional choice would most jar on my idiot parents)

Clarissimo · 14/01/2009 11:33

Like everyone else says...

can oyu imagine the Prime Minister being Mr Boo Brown? Or the head of the Bank of England being named Boo? How would you feel having a Consultant named Boo?

DS3 was nicknamed bobo for a few years, but has a sensible rl name to use.

I do think Beau is OK though, not fab but acceptable. Perhaps as a middle name?

Pannacotta · 14/01/2009 11:26

We use it as a nickname for DS2 but he is 19 months old and very baby like still.
As MP says, its ok for a baby, but not for a man, so probably no.
No reason why you cant use it as a nickname, in that capacity it is very cute IMO..

BoccaDellaVerita · 14/01/2009 11:25

Ok as a nickname but, as a given name on the birth certificate, it might as well be Mock-Me.

pinkblossom · 14/01/2009 11:23

No!! OK for a nickname but not for a "proper" name.

kittywise · 14/01/2009 11:21

fgs don't be so ridiculous

nappyaddict · 14/01/2009 11:18

No not chavs, quite the opposite really. Quite the boden kids One has parents who are a teacher and a doctor and the other's parents are a barrister and an accountant.

Don't be ridiculous.

Have you seen this thread?

Try the name "Boo" out and see how far down the list you get before you realise it is daft.

stillstanding · 14/01/2009 11:18

Are you in the UK? Then no.

breadandroses · 14/01/2009 11:18

LolaTheShowgirl · 14/01/2009 11:12

rubyslippers · 14/01/2009 11:11

Nancy66 · 14/01/2009 11:09

Ridiculous name. Seriously, you will ruin a child's life if you call them this.

MadameCastafiore · 14/01/2009 10:46

Seriously you know kids called Boo - it isn't a name it is a noise you make when you want to scare the pants off of someone!

nappyaddict · 14/01/2009 10:45

I was just thinking I know a couple of girls with this name and it really suits them but don't know of any boys with it although it is similar to Bo which people often use for both boys and girls.

OP posts:
HelenBurns · 14/01/2009 10:44

and it would be easily confused with 'poo' when he was learning to speak.

MrsMattie · 14/01/2009 10:44

Nooooooo. Good God, NO.

No human should be named Boo.
