Just come across this, what do you think? For a boy of course. It's a bit like Tarquin but not so foppish I thought.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OrmIrian · 09/01/2009 14:06

I think it will be shortened to Wand - which might be unfortunate.

Fimbo · 09/01/2009 11:34

Oh dear surely it will be shortened to Turd??

PrimulaVeris · 09/01/2009 11:33

PM!

MrsBadger · 09/01/2009 11:31

I know it's nice hence why I suggested it

I thought it'd be more likely to go down well with the OP than James / Jack / Edward / Thomas etc

Isambard?
Harper?
Fletcher?
Tiberius?

PuppyMonkey · 09/01/2009 11:29

Oops, sorry Primula, you beat me to it.. But I got the right..

PuppyMonkey · 09/01/2009 11:28

PrimulaVeris · 09/01/2009 11:27

HelenBurns · 09/01/2009 11:21

Oy! MrsB I'll have you know Rudyard is ds's middle name! It's not pretentious! It's just a nice name.

which he will hate me for

Nancy66 · 09/01/2009 10:53

Absolutely awful

fgpl · 09/01/2009 10:27

WTF ?

MrsBadger · 09/01/2009 10:18

Try pretenious surnames-as-first-names eg Kingsley, Rudyard

shangelcharlie · 09/01/2009 10:12

Yuk, how about Farquaar

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 09/01/2009 09:42

It is without a doubt the most pretentious name I have ever heard in my entire life, I'm afraid!

OrmIrian · 09/01/2009 09:41

?

moondog · 09/01/2009 09:41

You are fucking joking?

LouMacca · 09/01/2009 09:40

I can't believe you are serious?

OneLieIn · 09/01/2009 09:28

I'm laughing sorry - it is ridiculous.

nailpolish · 09/01/2009 09:22

ridiculous, sorry

freyapoodle · 09/01/2009 09:20

Oh dear, nobody seems to like this much. I like Tarquin but I thought it was a bit of a joke name now.

MrsBadger · 09/01/2009 09:19

actually I read the title and thought you'd planned to call a girl Turquoise and it had turned out to be a boy...

claireybrations · 09/01/2009 09:18

I somehow miss out the quan when I read it so can't help but read it as turd, sorry

Bluestocking · 09/01/2009 09:17

Reminds me of Farquaad from Shrek. Not good.

Lauriefairycake · 09/01/2009 09:11

LOl - thanks for that, hilarious.

MrsBadger · 09/01/2009 09:11

even Tarquin is better

freyapoodle · 09/01/2009 09:08

It is an old surname apparently.
