Just come across this, what do you think? For a boy of course. It's a bit like Tarquin but not so foppish I thought.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
piscesmoon · 14/08/2009 19:03

Are you sure it is a name-and not someone who can't spell?

ohnelly · 14/08/2009 18:51

No way!!!

HerHonesty · 14/08/2009 15:19

not to my taste.

Paolosgirl · 14/08/2009 15:15

Not as foppish are Tarquin? Are you living in the same world as the rest of us?!

It's awful. You know it is.

melll · 14/08/2009 15:01

turd

barnsleybelle · 04/06/2009 20:58

Really don't like it... sorry

magbags · 04/06/2009 20:52

A joke, non?

minouminou · 12/02/2009 23:22

Wow. Even I don't like it.
It's a good surname, though....so maybe I do like it............a bit
Sort of.

i just came across this when I googled my own name, my surname is "turquand".

I have registered to the site purely add my 2p and say that you should definately be calling ALL your children "Turquand".

MarchNowFebMum · 09/01/2009 17:26

please don't - agree sounds like turd, first thing I thought of

BabyBaby123 · 09/01/2009 16:36

god, it's awful

MrsBadger · 09/01/2009 16:21

yes, exactly
see also Kingsley Amis

OrmIrian · 09/01/2009 15:31

I don't think it's inverse snobbery. It's just a daft name IMO. I'd feel the same if it was a 'chavvy' name.

silverfairy · 09/01/2009 14:36

It's not that bad, lots of inverse snobbery on here today (just seen on Octavia post too).

bangandthedirtisgone · 09/01/2009 14:21

But Kipling was Rudyard's surname MrsB.

NotQuiteCockney · 09/01/2009 14:21

Yeah, bit too weird.

How about St John? (pronounced sin-jun)

I don't mind Tarquin, actually, it's certainly better than Turquand, imo.

MrsArchieTheInventor · 09/01/2009 14:18

The question is do you like it? And would you feel a twat shouting out the name when your son is playing football at school, as in "man on, Turquand!"

p.s. How do you pronounce it??

AmIOdetteOrOdile · 09/01/2009 14:11

sorry - just saw Fimbo's post

AmIOdetteOrOdile · 09/01/2009 14:11

or it may even be shortened to Turd.....

FranSanDisco · 09/01/2009 14:09

It really wouldn't be fair to use that name on a child.
