Brucie?

For a girl

Not totally a piss take, you have lots of both names, eg Leslie/Lesley, Tracie/Tracey, Charlie/Charlie etc

The more I think about it the more I think it holds promise

OK Mumsnetters, please be nicer to me than last time, what do you all think?

Errrm
Maybe 3rd time lucky Ilovebrucie.

expatinscotland · 01/01/2009 20:59

I know a grown-up/now old man Bruce who was a vile perv.

Yuk.

The husband of one of my mother's lifelong friends, too.

LiffeySaysHappyNewYear · 01/01/2009 20:45

I am a man

LiffeySaysHappyNewYear · 01/01/2009 20:45

but

LiffeySaysHappyNewYear · 01/01/2009 20:44

My name is Brucie.

ILoveBrucie · 01/01/2009 20:17

I bet you won't meet another little girl called Brucie in your life so it is unique

Chillax all, at least I don't have the authority to name your babies

You're not giving yourself individuality in this world of 'clones' - you are simply allying yourself with another group, the chavvy group. Mis-spelling names deliberately is one of the most conformist things you can do.

Far better to choose an original, unusual name and spell it properly.

Quattrocento · 01/01/2009 18:10

I can't find the babyname thread where the mother wanted to call her DS Bear. That was good too.

oldwhingebag · 01/01/2009 18:03

I know a grown-up Bruce who is great and a successful professional, so obviously hasn't held him back at all

LiffeySaysHappyNewYear · 01/01/2009 18:01

Bryce is hideous though. IloveBrucie, don't you go loving Bryce just cos it's got a Y in it now!!!

LiffeySaysHappyNewYear · 01/01/2009 17:59

I actually really like Bruce for a boy. I know a ten yr old Bruce. I think it's different but not stupid. JMO.

oldwhingebag · 01/01/2009 17:57

Is Bryce a name? Think it's nice and a bit unusual.

Quattrocento · 01/01/2009 17:55

LOLOLOLOL

Sometimes MN is hysterical.

mloo · 01/01/2009 17:48

There are so many cool girl names that don't have to be the least bit controversial or awkward to spell or say. Harder with boys to get something unique, but for girls, you don't need to choose anything even slightly 'strange' in order to be unique.

faeriemoo · 01/01/2009 17:11

chuckle

What a funny thread!

wombleprincess · 01/01/2009 17:05

sorry, i dont understand, if you want a name with individuality in this world of conformity and clones why are you seeking opinion from mumsnetters???

bronze · 31/12/2008 22:21

*unusual

bronze · 31/12/2008 22:20

If you want unusal why not go for a name that is a proper name but spell it right. Such as Xanthe or Lettice

hunkermunker · 31/12/2008 22:16

Is it "gnaw" or "na" at the end?

The Elly bit I get, but I seem to have to say "Elly-gnaw" (obv as gnaw is usually pronounced, not like Gnasher in the Beano!) when I pronounce it.

Hunker it would be nor as it is pronounced normally - elly nor ie neither elly nor ally

Does that clear that up?

Nancy - if all my children need to forgive me for are their names then I will have done something right

Did you ever answer how you pronounce the "nor" part of Ellynor?

Nancy66 · 31/12/2008 21:22

I hope your children grow up to be very forgiving.
