Lauren - please help because I AM bovvered!!

I am due to be induced TONIGHT and still don't have a girls name! We had pretty much decided on the name Lauren until a couple of days ago when I found out it was the name of that horrible Catherine Tate character. Am I the only person who didn't know this character's name? Now I'm worried that it's a really chavvy name and I'm the only person who didn't know. I know I will probably annoy/offend a lot of people by using the word chavvy but as I'm talking about the 'am I bovvered?' girl I think you know what I'm saying. Just wondered if you could give me your views on the name?

I really like Lauren. I don't think it's chavvy. I am blissfully unaware of the Catherine Tate character.

I definitely wouldn't think that. Haven't heard of any Laurens since 1990s.

It’s interesting as I have Lauren on my list and don’t know any Lauren’s and it’s not very popular whereas it looks like it was everywhere in 2008!! I wonder if it’s due a revival or still unpopular.

As the DC will is now 13 (born Dec 08) I expect OP has long since decided whether to use the name or not

I think it's a pretty name. I remember the character but only remember the catchprase since you mentioned it. If it is does bother you though Laura, Laurel are both equally as pretty. I think whenever a name is mentioned we all have associations to the names some good, some not so good but I like to think most of us would keep quiet and judge the person not the name. I like Lauren. If you think it's too much Catherine Tate you could do Laurel instead.

I think Lauren is a totally fine name, and not rare enough to ever be associated with one person/character...and certainly not one from a show that was popular, what, 10/15 years ago?

I'm back again. 8 days after giving birth and the first day I can sit upright and use the laptop (very nasty tear!) Anyway I thought I'd let you all know I had a beautiful baby girl and have called her Lauren. I've had lots of texts and cards commenting on what a lovely name it is. Thanks again everyone for all your opinions.

I love Catherine Tates character, Lauren, I don't for a minute link it to other Lauren's though (can't really explain why )

Its a lovely name. Very popular and I know lots and lots of them, but its not 'chavvy' at all IMO and if its popularity doesn't put you off (wouldn't put me off btw!) then go for it!
