JiminyCricket · 08/12/2008 12:06

TheSeriousSanta · 08/12/2008 11:52

Sp

Spud if your friends have a third child, maybe they will call him Twocker

spudballoo · 08/12/2008 11:47

I have a Digby, so shoot me.

Eyebrows were raised at the introducttion of baby Pirate a brother to Gypsy.

Kelix · 08/12/2008 11:45

Thats what I thought SeriuosSanta! No they not twins there is about 11 months between them. I so want to tell you the second names but there maybe someone who knows them on here so dont want to start a family row just before xmas lol

Think your the first person to know another Cherish BTW

TheSeriousSanta · 08/12/2008 11:42

He called his kids John Thomas?????????? That's so cruel. Are they twins?

I know a Cherish but she is always called Cherry.

Kelix · 08/12/2008 11:38

My Dad has recently had 2 kids and called them John and Thomas. Good names for blokes but for babies it sounds slightly wrong IMO

My DD is called Cherish and one guy at my work said when I told him 'I hope she forgives you for that' I was like WTF but I was pregnant at the time

I like her name and sure she will too. I know another Cherish who is lovley (shes about 20) and her name has never been shortened and she likes it so fingers crossed DD wont be too angry with me lol

What a wonderful thread!!!!

I met a woman (who has turned into a good friend) who called her son Loren... I thought she said 'Lauren' (they sound the same) and just stood like

Also, Raglan... I just felt like saying to the mum: So glad you are rich, cos you wouldn't have made it through my school with a name like that!!!

Thereagain, I have relatives called Mairead, Grainne, Sorcha, Fergal, Siohbann, Sean, Eoghan, Noni, Lycia, Fiachra and Darragh so really shouldn't be throwing stones!!

ooh Basil's cute!
I'd be looking for his fluffy tail though.

UnquietDad · 08/12/2008 10:32

I'd have thought "Boom! Boom!"

maltloafeater · 08/12/2008 10:17

There was a Basil at dd's play group. Every time I heard his mum call him I thought of Sybil Fawlty.

chequersandroastedchestnuts · 08/12/2008 10:04

I know a DIgby in his 30s, I quite like it.

Heard a Shakira and a Shapparel (sp?) being called in Tesco's the other day.

edam · 08/12/2008 09:51

I know a little girl called Ocean which does sound a bit hippy-ish.

Once heard a woman shout across Clapham Common Asda in a very strong Saaf Lunnon accent: 'Shaniqua, get your bum over 'ere!'

UnquietDad · 08/12/2008 09:42

Maybe Cosmo was named after Cosmo Landesman, Burchill's Modern Review mate...

belgo · 08/12/2008 09:36

My newborn ds's name appears on this list, I had to check the poster's profile to make sure I didn't know her!

I know a couple of Anyas, it's a very nice, normal name.

MmeHereWeGoAWassailLindt · 08/12/2008 09:33

At a playgroup in Germany one of the mums intoduced her newborn, Siegfried. We all stuttered something about unusual and then started talking about how big he was. There was a lot of tongue-biting going on. It was a family name, the dad and grandad and great grandad were called Siegfried.

Hubert and Anja were popular names in Germany about 40 - 50 years ago. My BIL is Hubert.

PuppyMonkey · 08/12/2008 09:27

Changing the subject a bit, yesterday in the park, a man was shouting for his Rotweiller dog: "Thrust!! Over here!!"

PuppyMonkey · 08/12/2008 09:26

I saw a woman in a cafe with a Digby once. have we had a Digby yet? It made me pmsl...

AuntieMaggie · 08/12/2008 09:14

Cosmo... seriously...

UnquietDad · 08/12/2008 09:10

With a baby called Inigo I imagine the midwife at the birth calling "out-e-come".

snice · 08/12/2008 00:25

Isn't Aine pronounced On-ya?

A work colleague had a baby and another colleague was telling me the details and I said "so what did they call her?"
"Sandra"
"Oh" was all I said. It seemed like such a strange name to call a baby nowadays.

The funny thing was though, the bloke who had taken the call and relayed the information didn't have any of the details so just made up a name when he emailed the team! Bizarre! The baby is actually called Gabrielle which is lovely.

AussieLou · 07/12/2008 19:12

'INIGO come and have your babyccino'
Makes me think of the 'Princess Bride'
My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die!'

piscesmoon · 07/12/2008 19:05

I haven't got a DD but I think Lucy is a lovely name!
