I have a VERY unusual name. In fact its so unusual that if I told you and you googled it the only thing that would come up would be my Facebook profile (I tried it......so as I may need to post incognito one day I can't tell you.

Anyway despite not being paricularly thrilled with my name when I was a teenager, I love it now and would love to name forthcoming DC's with something unusual.

What are the most unusual names you have heard of for both sexes???

My parents know someone called Pudens (from the Latin for modest or bashful....most well-known cognate is pudenda, i.e. female genitals....I bet he had a fantastic time at school. I think he's in his 70s....)

Friend of a friend has a new baby called Hosanna.

Lacey Curtain Bwahaha

I haven't read all 300 posts but
Beauty
Precious
Hapiness

Are all quite common African names.

But the most unusual was a girl in ds class whose name was Hopalong. .

There is a Worzel near where I live. I thought it was just a nickname once til I heard him being called for at the Drs surgery.

Also have a nephew at school with a Spirit May and a Carlhoun.

Read on a midwives' forum: a woman called Baby, which obviously caused a lot of confusion with her and her baby's hospital notes!

See I like Cobweb - very Midsummer Night's dream (the other fairies were Mustardseed, and erm - you'll have to help me - Peaseblossom?)

Did Cobweb have any siblings?

Moth was the other.

But surely, given the choice, you'd choose Peaseblossom over Cobweb!!
