Would be Raphael Edward or Clement Edward.
Our first son is Louis, James, Alexandre.

I love both of them.

you can't use Gabriel Edward.
that is ds2's name!

cheesesarnie · 08/11/2008 22:33

love Raphael/Rafael.clem is nice but not as keen on clement.my step sister is clemency and gets called clem.

fin42 · 08/11/2008 22:31

My brother once brought a group of teenagers over on exchange from Valencia and the Rafa amongst them was the coolest of the lot. I've liked the name ever since, although I'm a Liverpool fan too, so prbably biased!

crankytwanky · 07/11/2008 22:46

I only know a French Clement, so it's "Clem-on" in my head, which I like. Pronounced in the English fasion, it makes me think of nice weather. No bad thing.
Love Raf.

Absolooooooooooooooootely MissClavel, I think you can get away with it when you live abroad. If local people don't like the name, they'll think, son ingleses, que esperas? and people back home will think, well, they do live in Spain/France you know. As though that explains everything. So PONCE away!

PS I don't like Clem because it rhymes with phlegm.

Raphael/Rafael is just so gorgeous though.

MissClavel · 07/11/2008 10:16

I love Raphael and really wanted it for dc3 - we were living in France near the Spanish border and I would have spelt it Rafael.

There was no way DH was letting that one slip through though, and anyway she ended up being a girl.

My boys have poncetastic names and they carry them off. I like a bit of ponce.

Anna8888 · 07/11/2008 10:00

Are you some kind of Franco-British family? If so, those names and combinations thereof are fine and not poncey.

Otherwise .

2Helenback · 07/11/2008 09:57

Raphael makes me think of Ninja Turtles, which could always be due for a comeback.

Love Clem. Had Clement / Clemency as our choices, until said it in the local accent which flattens e to a and realised we'd have a little Clam or Clammy on our hands. (I am frequently callled Alan, not Helen. Alan id my dad!)

BabyBaby123 · 06/11/2008 22:08

too poncey imo

lalalonglegs · 06/11/2008 21:33

Raphael definitely but I always think these things depend on surname a great deal too.

frazzledoldbag34 · 06/11/2008 21:15

'to me' that should say, not 'to be'. Duh, sorry

frazzledoldbag34 · 06/11/2008 21:14

I prefer Raphael to Clement. Clement sounds a bit 'old mannish' to be. Or maybe that's it's appeal?

ps, if you're living in France, it'll be assumed that you're more poncey that 'what u used 2 b" so don't worry about the ponce factor!

Liffey · 06/11/2008 20:56

I like Raphael Edward, nn 'Red'!

I would really dislike Rhett though! Not sure why I like the name Red.

soleildefrance · 06/11/2008 20:41

Thanks for your feedback! Still 13 weeks to decide (and convince my husband...)

I like the Edward part (you could hide either of the others as a middle name!)

seeker · 06/11/2008 19:05

As I said - if you life in Richmond, Morningside, Southwold or possibly Whitstable absolutely fine - anywhere else no!

othersideofchannel · 06/11/2008 18:56

I love Raphael!

Clement is also nice, especially shortened to Clem.

yama · 06/11/2008 18:55

Prefer Raphael.

noonki · 06/11/2008 18:54

they would get eaten alive around here!

donnie · 06/11/2008 18:54

oh yes, off the ponce richter scale IMO. Both of them!

wheresthehamster · 06/11/2008 18:52

I meant looks wise - I only remember him from the ads for dog food.

annasmami · 06/11/2008 18:51

I like both Clement and Raphael - nice, classic masculine names that are not that common.

seeker · 06/11/2008 18:46

There are worse role models than Clement Freud!
