Oh right Pinktastic off on both counts then!

On reflection tessothedurbevilles, I prefer Imogen - I also like Iseult or Isolde, and I also like Tess...

Pinktastic · 05/11/2008 11:23

Roman Catholic in the Midlands !

zazen · 05/11/2008 11:19

Oh I see! I'd never heard that phrase before are you presbyterian / in Scotland?

twoluvlykids · 05/11/2008 11:11

Madeline

definitely

it's my dd's name, spelt that way, too

nickname Maddie, Mad, or Mads.

sometimes Mad Lizzie

Pinktastic · 05/11/2008 11:07

A Sunday name is like your Sunday best. As children we always wore our Sunday best clothes to go to church and then visit grandparents. It's a common phrase where I live.

Didn't mean to confuse...

zazen · 05/11/2008 11:04

What's a Sunday name Pinktastic? And why? Am curious

I like Imogen and Isla equally, but will always think of little Madeline McCann.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/11/2008 11:00

no no no
have you not seen the otehr thread?
you can't use Isla. it's MINE. sheesh!!

(you can guess which i like best!!)

Pinktastic · 05/11/2008 10:58

Biased towards Imogen as this is my DD's Sunday name. She is known as Mo the rest of the time !!

earlynite · 04/11/2008 22:48

i love Imogen, shortened to Midge.

nuthacuppatea · 20/10/2008 18:55

Madeleine!

I know an imogen who has been called Imodium as a nickname.

minorbirdOnElmstreet · 19/10/2008 10:14

Imogen.

Natbrum · 19/10/2008 09:54

All are lovely, particularly like Madeline and Isla, although Imogen is still pretty. My sister in law works at a nursery though and said there are quite a few Isla's coming in now.

artichokes · 18/10/2008 19:29

I like Isla but I would put a real money bet on it being in teh top 5 girls names within a couple of years. Having said that I am thinking of giving it to DD2 as her middle name but we will use the Turkish spelling (for family reasons) which is Ayla.

I know of 3 Islas all under 2 living in our district (so will presumably all be in the same class!)

Rindercella · 18/10/2008 10:58

Like Isla best. The others are okayish, but Isla is especially nice. And not too common (know of one Isla rounnd here)

pointygravedogger · 18/10/2008 10:27

eye-la

annasmami · 18/10/2008 10:26

How do you pronounce Isla?

Aila (as in Island)?
Or Eesla (German pronounciation)?

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 18/10/2008 10:25

I like them all. Dd has a friend called Imogen who is lovely and kind. She is the best dancer in dd1's dance scool. You would think (ime anyway) that this would mean that she is all stuck up and false smiles etc but no she is a genuinely lovely little girl who is a really talented dancer. That's why i like that name.

pointygravedogger · 18/10/2008 10:21

I've never yawned when I've heard someone's name.

bookswapper · 17/10/2008 23:35

Isla very, very common here in scotland....bit of a yawn when you hear of another one tbh

like Imogen

LynetteScavo · 17/10/2008 23:33

Pointy...for your information, I am 22.

Plonker · 17/10/2008 23:29

Imogen
Isla
Madeline

... in that order

All lovely names though

pointygravedogger · 17/10/2008 23:21

ok ok, the 50 somethings too

LynetteScavo · 17/10/2008 23:18

I am not a 40 somthing, thankyou, pointy!!!!!

And yes Isla Sinclair was atractive (I presume she still is)and had a lovely voice.

I still prefer Imogen.
