Elizabeth known as Biba = cute. She has options is she wahts something more traditional, adult, professional or plain (she may afterall not be pretty and trendy).

Biba on its own = limiting, risky and a little naff.

LittleMissBlissBloodAndBoils · 16/10/2008 21:49

I've decided i like it so much i might nab it for when i possibly one day have a girl!

NotAnOtter · 16/10/2008 21:46

just lovely
classy imo

BibiThree · 16/10/2008 21:44

I quite like it - but prefer Bibi

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 16/10/2008 21:38

You've got to be kidding!

nimble · 16/10/2008 20:55

I think its pretty and like the association to the fabulous store. Go with it if you like and sod the rest.

I know a Biba. Makes me think of the website Bebo!

TheSmallClanger · 14/10/2008 22:00

What's the medical connotation of Carina then?

Biba is phonetically identical to the German word for beaver. It's awful, and children shouldn't be named after shops or consumer goods.

frazzledoldbag34 · 14/10/2008 20:47

Be quite appropriate if you get rushed in to hospital in labour in an ambulance then. Perfect!

GloriaStits · 14/10/2008 20:38

Normally I just read names threads for a laugh but have to intervene here. BIBA is fairly standard medical abbreviation for "bought in by ambulance". Up there with the usual medical names- candida, melina, carina, IV

frazzledoldbag34 · 14/10/2008 19:26

Hee hee LOL at 'Beaver'?

Seriously though, Biba - hmmmmmm
I think it might be a bit 'trying to be cool', but on the other hand not offensive.
Actually not sure.
Sorry, not very helpful am I?

(Too busy laughing at Beaver!)

Takver · 14/10/2008 17:54

I know a Bibi (short for Habiba), good name IMO.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 14/10/2008 17:02

I remember that Grand Designs, but quite like it.

jujumaman · 14/10/2008 17:02

I had two friends at school called Biba, one was really Rebecca and one was Elizabeth

So if you like it (and I do) but think it a bit risky you could always go for a longer name like that and called her Biba for short and then it's up to her when she's older whether to stick with it or not.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 14/10/2008 16:57

There was that couple on Grand Designs with a dd called Biba and everyone on MN was going 'what did he just say her name was? Beaver?'

therefore a bit risky IMO....

janeite · 14/10/2008 16:56

Not keen sorry; it is a fashion label and sounds a bit "try hard" imho. Then again, I am now teaching my fifth Armani, so I may be biased!

Majeika · 14/10/2008 16:55

CBeebies?

nooka · 14/10/2008 16:55

Nickname only I think.
