Is the spelling Jorja naff?

Jorja is terrible, I'm afraid. I've had professional dealings with 2, and the with first one, I failed to realise how to pronounce it, and thought perhaps it was spanish, so called her "Horha"

Georgia is a nice name, so is Georgina

AbbeyA · 09/10/2008 21:25

Jorga is terrible! It just looks as if you can't spell. Georgina is my vote.

Posey · 09/10/2008 21:25

Jorja - no way, absolutely awful.
Georgia - nice but lots of them about.

Now Georgina, what a fab name . I know a particularly wonderful Georgina who is also regularly called Georgie and mostly called George which suits her down to the ground.

ceebee74 · 09/10/2008 21:19

Agree with the others - my friend has called her DD Jorja and I hate it (would never tell her though) - what is wrong with the traditional spelling?? And, yes, she did get the idea from the actress from CSI

But I do adore the name Georgia (not that keen on Georgina though)

MrsThierryHenry · 09/10/2008 21:18

ahh, yes. here you go.

Bet her real name was Sally.

MrsThierryHenry · 09/10/2008 21:17

Isn't there a Jorja Fox...a US aktorka?

MrsThierryHenry · 09/10/2008 21:17

I don't like any of them. Sorry! I think they're all rather poncy.

Cantmakedecisions · 09/10/2008 21:16

Georgina definitely-think it has a certain 'edge' too it-sort of funky and often shortened to Georgie. Georgia is lovely but very popular it seems. As for Jorja-no,no,no!!-sounds like you're trying too hard.

SquiffyHock · 09/10/2008 21:15

Georgina or (one of my favorite names) Georgiana which you never hear.

wheresthehamster · 09/10/2008 21:13

Love Georgina because it's one of dd3's names.
Georgia is quite common here but nice.
I know a girl called Jorja and presumed she was named after some sleb. Don't like it but not sure why

slackrunner · 09/10/2008 21:12

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 09/10/2008 14:31

Georgina - there are just so many Georgias now (although I agree it's a nice name). Am allergic to made-up spellings like Jorja!

firstontheway · 09/10/2008 14:28

Jorja... no!
Looks like you've only ever HEARD the name Georgia and never seen it used.
However Georgia and Georgina are lovely

Elliekate · 09/10/2008 14:27

Its ok,i suspected as much
Someone suggested it to DP and he really liked it-one of the actresses off CSI spells it like this apparently.
I reaaly like Georgia though

Jorja???? No No No!

edam · 09/10/2008 14:21

Jorja is terrible, everyone who ever has to spell her name will think 'oh, must have been hard for her, having illiterate parents'. Sorry but better to hear it now than after you've registered the birth!
