For me it's Silas - it reminds me of the adventure programmes I used to watch as a kid. I think one of my first crushes must have been on a character called Silas.

I did suggest it for DS1 (vetoed by DP), but thinking about it I wouldn't want to call my son Silas and I can't really explain why.

Does anybody else have a name that they wouldn't use, but really like nonetheless...?

sunnydelight · 15/11/2010 05:37

Salome - you can't really name your daughter after one of the world's most famous courtesans!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 15/11/2010 03:30

Chester - DH says any child with this name would just be called 'Chester drawers'.

FairyLightsForever · 14/11/2010 19:47

Humphrey... there's something cuddley about it!
I called my bump Humph, to looks of horror from everyone, but luckily it turned out to be a girl Grin

Aurelia, Delilah and Gabriella. DH vetoed them all so we are going with Charlotte (Lottie) for DD2.

imahappycamper · 14/11/2010 19:28

Rahab

Ixora · 14/11/2010 10:51

Richeldis

AnnieBeansMum · 13/11/2010 23:21

Since I was a teenager I have always loved Gabrielle and Lily for a girl and Aiden or Austen (massive Jane Austen fan) for a boy. DH vetoed all four. Sad

anonymosity · 13/11/2010 23:14

Lazlo

linz76 · 13/11/2010 22:21

Sebastian. I love, love, love it! Unfortunately it woulg go down like a lead balloon in the east coast of Scotland

smaych · 13/11/2010 22:09

I really love the name Anna, but my husband has vetoed it because it just doesn't feel right to him - boo! :)

I love Shakespearean names like Cressida, but I think I would go for something more "traditional" in the end.

I was really tempted by my mother-in-law's middle name Frederica, and I really like Erica too. But again husband vetoed, said it would be strange to name it after his mother.

Basically husband is very fussy!

My favourite boys name (we don't know the sex yet) is Edwin, but he doesn't like that either.

Husband constantly jokes that he only wants to name the baby Pubert. OH DEAR.

redflag · 13/11/2010 21:56

Lolita and Aurora.

No one would let me have either, also i don't think any of my son's would be to impressed either :)

harleymars · 13/11/2010 21:48

Flint. I love it but just don't think I'm brave enough.

pettyprudence · 13/11/2010 21:46

I heard the name Pomroy today and now have it fixed in my head - DH already vetoed though :(

I always loved Denny and planned to call any son I had that name. I successfully convinced DP that if we had a son, he should be called Denny.

We had a DD, and named her Angie which we both love, so thought the next, as yet fictitious, one could be Denny if he's a boy.

Then I realised.

Angie and Den.

katiepotatie · 13/11/2010 20:42

Monty....I love it! It sounds ridiculous with our surname too. Saving it for if we ever get a dog Grin

dolcegusto · 13/11/2010 20:39

Love dulcie but don't think I'd have the guts to go for it.

taffetacat · 13/11/2010 20:34

Iolanthe or Perdita for a girl

Both vetoed by DH but the name we gave our DD is beautiful and much commented upon - favourably.

pinguwings · 13/11/2010 20:27

Scout :(

angelberg · 13/11/2010 17:31

I mean Marnie after the Hitchcock (anti-)heroine, of course.
