For me it's Silas - it reminds me of the adventure programmes I used to watch as a kid. I think one of my first crushes must have been on a character called Silas.

I did suggest it for DS1 (vetoed by DP), but thinking about it I wouldn't want to call my son Silas and I can't really explain why.

Does anybody else have a name that they wouldn't use, but really like nonetheless...?

Rory - I don't say my 'r's very well, so a definate no-no, but an early not-quite-crush on a Rory (Armstrong?) fixed it in my head.

MorallyBankrupt · 09/08/2011 22:30

Ismene was my childhood name of choice

I love Wilbur. DH told me it was the single worst name he'd ever heard Sad

AmeliaSachs · 09/08/2011 21:54

Temperance. Lots of people seems to have had Noah vetoed. Why? What have I left my son in for?

spout · 09/08/2011 20:26

someone said Hal. I LOVE Hal. What's it short for - Henry?

buterflies · 09/08/2011 12:01

rainbow2000 · 09/08/2011 08:42

Plumpgoose · 09/08/2011 06:45

pommedechocolat · 08/08/2011 15:26

Melissa as was name of dh's significant ex (8 years) who tried to get back with him 6 months into our relationship and who he has only ever talked about in ultra glowing terms. Hate her love her name.

CLS101 · 08/08/2011 15:20

Sinead, but name of OH's ex. I would still use it as it doesn't bother me but she wasn't very nice to him.

Ryan, OH best friend.

Names I like but he doesn't: Lily, Rosie, Daisy.

Names he likes but I don't: Martin (!?!)

Names we have both agreed we like and will/could use: Patrick (his name and his dads, granddads, been there for generations) and Tara and Bridget.

Trying to get him around Ava plus the other names above.

I also love Niamh BUT I have this thing about names with 2 syllables.

EmJayg · 08/08/2011 11:29

Skye is one of the most popular names in Scotland at the moment, fluffles - top twenty (fourteen?) if I remember correctly. It's a lovely name and one of my faves :)

fluffles · 10/07/2011 18:39

i LOVE the name skye for a girl, and skye is a really special place to DH and i but... but... i don't know, it's just a bit overdone isn't it?? i should look it up on those 'popular name' sites.. anybody got a link for one?

and wouldn't people think it was sky and write it as sky... ??

ThePopsicleKat · 10/07/2011 18:36

Skeet? Your poor misguided DH, thankfully he has you there to steer him right :o

I always loved the name Issara for a girl after reading it in some book when I was younger, but I think it would be a bit too poncey to inflict on a child. Actually, after a quick google, i'm not sure it's a proper name at all...

MsEwe · 09/07/2011 17:21

Lake for a boy and Harper for a girl

I joke not but DH wanted to call a boy Skeet!

JambalayaCodfishPie · 09/07/2011 17:18

EffieB · 29/05/2011 22:27

Wanda. I love love love it!

MeantToStopAtTwo · 28/05/2011 22:49

Ah yes, jemima. There's another one. And Ophelia.

MeantToStopAtTwo · 28/05/2011 22:48

Gabriella - I feel it's best suited to a dark-haired child. My girls are both very fair.

Alexia - because it means 'inability to read.'

Clementine - because I don't think most people feel the same about it as I do.

Pandora - ditto

I'm sure there are others....

sherbs · 28/05/2011 22:13
