For me it's Silas - it reminds me of the adventure programmes I used to watch as a kid. I think one of my first crushes must have been on a character called Silas.

I did suggest it for DS1 (vetoed by DP), but thinking about it I wouldn't want to call my son Silas and I can't really explain why.

Does anybody else have a name that they wouldn't use, but really like nonetheless...?

Felicia.

Was on my list right up until Skoda stole it.

Bastards.

charchargabor · 05/10/2008 00:18

I love Yestin for a boy, but I don't think DP is all that keen on it. I also loved Seth but friend put me off by reminding me of Seth Dingle.

I had lots of names I really liked, my ds has a lovely middle name, I wish we had just named him that, but I just couldn't face the reactions

Angus
Nechtan

Ha, have read thread now and see I'm not alone.

AbstractMouse · 04/10/2008 23:49

fruitstick, my Mil is a florence and dd has it for a middle name, Mil hates it with a passion though.

Tinker · 04/10/2008 23:47

Jesse was our brave boy choice. Still felt nervous about it right up to labour and was pretty relieved when had a girl. Hadn't told many people beforehand since knew what the reaction would be.

Real fantasy choice would be Amadeus.

AbstractMouse · 04/10/2008 23:45

I always liked Malachai and Seth also Ophelia, Octavia, Thalia. Dp in all seriousness wanted to call dd Lucretia lol. I also like Lenore, Lilith, Iris, Lydia and Althea, actually Ramona is nice too.

GobbledigookisThrifty · 04/10/2008 23:41

Gabriel adn Julian - like them both but would probably not use them (well, hjaven't actually!)

brimfull · 04/10/2008 23:40

I think it's a really pretty name, sadly with bad connotations.

NotAnOtter · 04/10/2008 23:38

Willow
Tara
Anya

I wasn't allowed any 'Buffy' names

EightiesChick · 04/10/2008 23:35

Sydney could be also used for a girl, as in Alias the TV series.

mabanana · 04/10/2008 23:26

Lettice - such a lovely name but open season for bullying I suspect.

LouMacca · 04/10/2008 23:25

Love Teddy but DH wouldn't have it as huge Man City fan (Teddy Sherringham ex-Man Utd)

woollyjo · 04/10/2008 23:15

Cias - Dh was having none of it though just as well we has a girl, saved a big fight

FreakyLadyFrightALot · 04/10/2008 23:04

our ys has Sydney as a middlename....partly because I do really like it and mostly because his grandfather and greatgrandfathers were Sydneys (albeit grandfather is known under a different name)

hughjarssss · 04/10/2008 23:02

I had the same problem with diasy. Sounded a lot like dairylee when added to our surname, didnt think that was fair at school

superfrenchie1 · 04/10/2008 23:00

oh me too Pearl for a girl and Sidney (Sid) for a boy, i LOVE those names!

in fact i love those names so much that it makes me want to have two more children just so i can use them. despite the fact that i already have dd and ds with perfectly nice names and my family is perfectly complete and no more kids on the agenda!

also have always loved Ramona. and Stanley. Oh and Peggy. there are loads that i love but would never quite use for some reason

I know a couple called Pearl and Dean.

Weren't they just destined to be together?

BettySwollux · 04/10/2008 22:53

Wanted to call DS2 Kiedis, as am big chilli peppers fan, and completely in love with Anthony Kiedis, Dh said we werent rich enough to call him that!
Plus it doesnt go too well with Matthew (DS1) so DH picked Adam and we called him that.

LynetteScavo · 04/10/2008 22:52

I kept sugesting Amadaus to DH when I ws PG with DS1. Now I just think "phew"that he didn't agree with me...but I still love it.
