What name do you secretly love but would never use for your child?

For me it's Silas - it reminds me of the adventure programmes I used to watch as a kid. I think one of my first crushes must have been on a character called Silas.

I did suggest it for DS1 (vetoed by DP), but thinking about it I wouldn't want to call my son Silas and I can't really explain why.

Does anybody else have a name that they wouldn't use, but really like nonetheless...?

Templeton, not sure why.

And Gage, but it has bad connotations

MissClavel · 05/10/2008 20:10

Lola
Rafael

both vetoed by DH. I do, however, have a Gabriel, which seems to be the most widely mentioned name on her. So far so good. DH's sole criterion is 'is it a good name for a surfer?' and Gabe, apparently, is.

Boys names i love but would never use are Josiah, Solomon and Sawyer and for girls Tallulah and Liesel, altogether now.. i am sixteen, going on seventeen...

I would have loved to call my duaghter Geniveve ( shorten to Genny) but DH said too poncy.
And I loved Frederick for a boy but DH thought everyone would have thought of Fred West .
And I loved Seth for a boy but love DS1's name anyway - so I guess i made the right choice

angelene · 05/10/2008 17:44

Dorcas . Intellectually, I know it's dreadful, but in my heart I love it. It's a good biblical name, too.

Twelvelegs · 05/10/2008 15:56

I love the name! If I were having another girl (I'm not ) it would have been Posie, I love that name too.
