What name do you secretly love but would never use for your child?

For me it's Silas - it reminds me of the adventure programmes I used to watch as a kid. I think one of my first crushes must have been on a character called Silas.

I did suggest it for DS1 (vetoed by DP), but thinking about it I wouldn't want to call my son Silas and I can't really explain why.

Does anybody else have a name that they wouldn't use, but really like nonetheless...?

I also heart Tobias and Hector- both names we considered for DS but when he was born ginger and scrawnie- well I just couldn't do it to him.

When I was younger I always thought that

-Twenty or
-October

would make good names!!

Cornelius- love it. (also rather fancied a boy called Cornelius as a younger person )

Bob is also quite fabulous but deemed deeply boring by DH (sorry to all Bobs out there)

Also love Scarlet or Carmen for a girl.

I have a Jonah which gets a very mixed reception. He'll either love it or hate it

If I had a daughter I would love to call her Persephone. ("Pur-sef-own-ee"). Or Hermione ("Hurm-i-own-ee"). Doubt my partner would agree to either!

My DS is Arthur. It's weird - sometimes I think he really suits it and other times I wonder what we were thinking.

I wanted him to be Rex so maybe he got off lightly (sexy Rexy anyone?).

If he'd been a girl I wanted Violet (too like violent according to DH) or Pearl (pearl necklace of course )

I want to call a girl Juniper, not sure if I would tho. Would probably use Erica instead.

Have to be very careful with names as Dp's surname is a kind of buidling. So we can't have names that sound like stately buildings. Albert is most definitely out!

Columbia was one of my favourites for DD.

But our surname is Rhodes and we live in London: didn't think she'd be thrilled being named after a market.

DD2 was nearly Aneurin, but I kept forgetting how to spell it. Would have been Nye for short.

Love Maisie, DH said no, and Reuben. Lydia, Elisha, Asher, Noah.

I always wanted to be called Candy when I was a child!
