For me it's Silas - it reminds me of the adventure programmes I used to watch as a kid. I think one of my first crushes must have been on a character called Silas.

I did suggest it for DS1 (vetoed by DP), but thinking about it I wouldn't want to call my son Silas and I can't really explain why.

Does anybody else have a name that they wouldn't use, but really like nonetheless...?

For boys
Virgil
Stirling
Buckner

For a girl
Harper-Lee

Good job my family is complete really! Some think Edgar is bad enough!

treedelivery · 23/11/2008 14:36

wanna Saskia.

Wanna be able to type too!

treedelivery · 23/11/2008 14:12

I wanna a Saskia!!

But when preggers with dd1 I had decided on it [dh still had rabbit in headlights look and so names were beyond him] but then, I was leaving the house and a terrrifying women leant out her upstairs window and yelled 'Saskia, get in 'ere for your bloody tea'

Wasn't you was it?

Have moved now so maybe this time.......

Saskia

June - I love it, it's my gran's name, but really does not fit with OH's surname. It'll probably be a middle name though.

Byron and Taliesin - I LOVE both of these and OH hates them as he knew some completel kn*bs called them.

HarleyQuinn · 05/11/2008 22:53

Lydia, Lucien, Wade, Evelyn.

susie100 · 31/10/2008 09:26

I love Emmeline and Evelina...both vetoed by DH.

Pawslikepaddington · 31/10/2008 08:30

I wanted Hermione, but the timing after HP came out made it all wrong. My boy name was Alfie but that cat got that instead

TheodoresMummy · 31/10/2008 08:25

Ziggy !!

I love it and yes, i would seriously use it.

DH however is far too boring conventional.

(DS is up for it. BIG lazytown fan...)

Also like Huckleberry/Huck, but even I can see the potential for teasing there....

MamaMimi · 31/10/2008 01:28

Well I would have loved to have called a boy Grover....
...but I had a girl, besides dp wouldn't have allowed it!

TooMuchMakkaPakka · 28/10/2008 23:38

For boys, Sebastian, Solomon, and Rupert.
Really liked Gabriel but DH said would rather call our son Archangel. He also said yelling out the lounge window, Rupert, come in for tea, would sound just a tad poncey.
For girls, India (isn't Jo Whiley's daughter called India?) and Arusha, its not a name, but a town we went to in Tanzania. Not a pretty town, but a very pretty name, I think.

Gotta be Tallulah, shortened to Tally, or Lolita for a girl. Absolutely love Cassius for a boy. Once met a Diesel.... poor kid.

Ah KleineMaus - I have known an Anouk, an Annick and an Anneke and all have been extraordinarly beautiful.

Blackhawk it's not going to work! I can't have Sophie or Emily I'm afraid. My kids already have two aunts called Sophie (sister and SIL) and two of my closest friends (and potential godmothers to next DC) are Emily.

Time to toddle down to the library for another baby name book methinks.

Leln · 21/10/2008 22:33

I love Tatiana but would be reluctant as I know it gets shortened to "Tatty".

Also love Giselle, but we live in france and here it is the equivalent of Ethel.

For boys love Felix, but everyone says it's a catfood. (So what?)

Also love Huckleberry, but DH just laughs.

KleineMaus · 21/10/2008 22:12

I love Anouk, or Annick, or even Anneka (would have to find out correct spelling first!) But DH has totally vetoed it. Boo!

blackhawk · 21/10/2008 18:26

LuLuBai, swapsies? lol The only girl's names my husband really likes are Emily and Sophie.

Buckets · 21/10/2008 18:17

Noah was no 50 last year, don't think anyone will bat an eyelid in 5yrs time!

LuLuBai · 21/10/2008 18:09

Oh blackhawk - do you want to have my DH? After reading the baby name book from start to finish the ONLY girls name he likes is Evelyn. I quite like it but a couple of friends have DDs with similar names (Eva, Evie).
