I don't particularly like place names as human names... However, it isn't ridiculous sounding, I'd say on a similar level to Florence, Brooklyn etc. Also, it will fit in well with current baby name trends as it isnt that different in sound to names like Arlo and Oscar. Plus you could always use Ozzy as a nn. If you like it, go for it.

Lots is cities are used as names eg Florence, Sophia, Paris, Brooklyn, etc. Oslo is no different and sounds quite masculine.

Not sure if you will ever see this, but I love the name Oslo and would like to use it for our son to be. Did you end up using the name? If so, how do you feel about it now?

Have to say I quite like it. I wouldn't use it as I do like traditional names and have a Joseph so Twelvelegs will be cringing! If you like it go for it. I also love the name scunthorpe, lol but couldn't use it cos it's were I live

yes, scunthorpe seems more foreign to me than Oslo!!!
Anyway it will be Oslo unless we find a better name. Just feel well warned of the reception.

my boys don't have traditional names, but that doesn't have to mean that you have to use placenames to name your kids, surely....

But both of my boys have
unusual names, not twee and still masculine, and I couldn't 'do' traditional names as it wouldn't fit.

I hate names like Daniel, Peter, Joshua, Theo, Luke, Jack and all the other tripe that appears on every name list.

Astra I have a cousin caled Bjoern...scandinavian names are often used in Germany
