Malachai ?

My mums friend is currently fostering a little boy called Malachai, or Malaki, not sure how it is spelt.

My sister and i remember a film called "children of the corn", and everytime my mums friend calls him by his name,we shudder! Anyone who has seen the film will know why!

Just wondering if there is any childs name from a horror story which would prevent you from using it. Damien (which i love btw) is another one i just couldnt bring myself to use.

Am i just a wimp???

madaline or maddy

i think its pretty obvious why

AccipeHoc · 04/09/2008 15:04

I haven't read the whole thread sorry, but I prefer Malachy (pronounced MALakee) which is not uncommon but not overused either inIreland.

Malachai pronounced Malak-Eye is too weird imo

I like Carrie but not sure I would use it because of the film.

Pinkjenny · 04/09/2008 10:53

Because I think that makes a difference.

ShowOfHands · 04/09/2008 10:51

Was he a good kisser?

Cappuccino · 04/09/2008 10:48

I know a Malachai

it's biblical

it's rather sweet actually, well, the boy I'm talking about is

foxytocin · 04/09/2008 10:48

wiki on malachi.

foxytocin · 04/09/2008 10:46

Malachi has Biblical (OT) roots, doesn't it?

I never saw children of the corn. It never became as popular as the omen in the cultural mindset, I don't think.

Pinkjenny · 04/09/2008 10:44

No, I'd left my shell suit at home that day, but I was wearing a Burberry tracksuit and my obligatory curly wig.

CilantroLarry · 04/09/2008 10:43

ShovellyJoe's right you know.

Cavorting with Dean Gaffney isn't even excusable with beer goggles. Tell me PJ, when you were ill-advisedly locking tongues with a man who is less attractive than his dog, were you wearing a shell suit?

Pinkjenny · 04/09/2008 10:41

Oi Shovelly, I can't believe you dared to show your face here.

ShovellyJoe · 04/09/2008 10:34

Joseph is popular because there are hundreds, nay thousands of people called Joseph. I can names lots. You don't say 'Joseph' and hear 'Stalin'. You say 'Adolf', you hear 'Hitler', no?

bikerunski · 04/09/2008 10:18

I know an Attilla, but he is about 40.

If we are steering clear of Adolph, why is Joseph so popular?

frazzledoldbag34 · 04/09/2008 10:09

Damian

Herod

Adolf

are all good ones to steer clear of IMO!

frazzledoldbag34 · 04/09/2008 10:08

Amity? ( I had a friend called that)
But Amityville horror might put me off using it although I like it.....

Ashantai · 03/09/2008 14:32

My sil's son is called Damon, and she gets very if anyone calls him Damien . So of course my OH does that just to wind her up!!

I really dislike it personally but we have been here before

anyway I like Leonard or Basil for a boy so my opinion is not really of consequence

MadreInglese · 03/09/2008 13:54

Hannibal

beanieb · 03/09/2008 13:52

when I was younger I always said if I had a baby boy I would call it Joseph Malachai.

Weirdly my OH's favourite boys name is Joseph. I probably won't use Malachai but I LOVE it.
