No.

Yimmy · 02/09/2008 12:07

My DS is Harley and it really suits him and I like it, I don't think its 'chavvy' at all ! Though I have come across the 'is your surname davidson' comments and people calling him Harvey, but you'll get comments no matter what name IMO

Janni · 01/09/2008 22:31

I really dislike it

Guadalupe · 01/09/2008 22:29

I was nearly a Harley. My dad's name is David and yes, he did ride a motorbike.

Thank the lord I was a girl.

blowsy · 01/09/2008 22:23

Imnotok · 01/09/2008 10:18

3andnomore · 31/08/2008 13:39

AnnaCliff · 31/08/2008 11:55

Horrible!

Ashantai · 31/08/2008 01:48

I like it although my brother also named his cat Harley

frazzledoldbag34 · 30/08/2008 21:57

No. No. No.
Sounds pretentious and makey-uppy to me.
Just a big fat no from me then.

Olihan · 30/08/2008 21:54

Malory, your first reaction was exactly the same as mine but I'm too scared of being outed as the MC snob I really am (I blame my mother) to voice it that early in a thread.

The image I get in my head when I see/hear it is a child of a parent of the type differentID describes, which isn't an assumption I'd want people to make about my child.

I don't really like it- it's a bit wishy washy for a boy and a bit butch for a girl. Unfortunately, I have oly heard it screamed in association with expletives which has put me right off it for either

preggersplayspop · 30/08/2008 21:46

I prefer Harvey.

Olihan · 30/08/2008 21:45

Interesting, especially as so many of you know one. It's a relation who is trying a bit too hard (IMVH-unasked-for-and-unreasonable-O) to be different and have a name that no one else will have. Personally I hate it, but then I'm from the boring traditional names camp.

It's worse because her husband is really into motorbikes so my (and most people's, I'd guess) reaction is that they're calling him after the motorbike.
