CHRISTOPHER

It really is a great, underused name.

Shortenings - Kit, Kip, Tiff, Chris (Chris? Really?)

None of my DSes are called it, but it is a great name

pissed him off no end!

iMum · 29/08/2008 18:45

by brother is Christopher, I always called him kissifer

Megglevache · 29/08/2008 18:44

I love it. If I were pregnant with a boy i would be seriously considering it.

And it is unusual now.

3andnomore · 29/08/2008 18:41

It was on my list for es, but at the time it was rather overused , and also my SIL's now exhubbie was called Chris(topher)..so, that didn't work

thumbwitch · 29/08/2008 17:34

at lack of imagination of some people, Cali! so they have a house full of Chris...

I knew a Christopher at school whose nn was Titfer; not the best abbrev. perhaps?

Fimbo · 29/08/2008 16:42

I say ChrisTIpher, but I think it's because I am Scottish.

Fimbo · 29/08/2008 16:41

In Scotland you don't come across many Henrys but where I live now in England there are loads.

I used to think it was an appalling name, mainly because I had never really heard anyone apart from old fogeys called it, but it has actually grown on me and I now think its a lovely name.

My ds has 2 as friends, they are known in our house as big Henry and little Henry

there is a Christopher and a William (and a Billy) in dd1's class.
both lovely names imo

schneebly · 29/08/2008 16:31

Oh yes I love the name. I wanted my mum to call my youngest brother that because I liked a boy at school with that name

MamaG · 29/08/2008 16:24

You obviously have excellent taste hatrick (but we knew that already)

However, I am disappointed that you're not HatrickPlusBubba - I believe you promised to namechange to that...

Neeerly3 · 29/08/2008 15:45

my dad is called it and my nephew has it as a middle name.

CuckooSplodgeandTubs · 29/08/2008 15:40

Stiff would be a cool nn

lastboxoftampons · 29/08/2008 14:56

I like it - I had mentioned it to DH, but then we both agreed we liked Christian better, which later became Tristan...so won't be using it, but it was the original inspiration for us.

It's often shortened to Topher in the States....

CuckooSplodgeandTubs · 29/08/2008 14:20

My cousin has a Kit. I quite like it, but I find it a bit feminine too.

I know a lovely Christian. Much prefer it to Christopher, but would never have chosen it for my own son. I prefer a more religiously ambiguous name!

nappyaddict · 29/08/2008 14:17

i've never known a christian be shortened to chris which is quite odd really.

hw2004 · 29/08/2008 14:17

Hmmm..don't like it. I considered Christian but didn't like the shortening of Chris.

also, don't think William is underused at all. It's very, very popular round here.

belgo · 29/08/2008 14:13

nice name except

Tiff????? are you sure?
Kip is dutch for chicken.

I came across the name Zak the other name. Zak is dutch for pocket.

highschoolmusical · 29/08/2008 14:10

Yuk

pinkblossom · 29/08/2008 13:35

Sorry, but absolutely 100% dislike it.
