Pronunciation of Evelyn???

Eve-lyn, Ever-lyn or is it something else? Which one is the most commonly used?

..yes but the shortening thing does make more sense if you go fot Eve-lyn

Not nec. cazzybabs. Firend's aunt was Ev-lin shortened to Evie (Scottish)

I think Evelyn Waugh was Eve - lin. So there's the gender thing too!

I know both. I would say that Eve-lyn is posher than Ev-lyn.

I'd automatically say Eve-lyn but would check if I met somone for the first time - don't think that one is necessarily predominant, unless it's regeonal.

Yup, have a scottish friend who we all call Eve, but her sister always calls her Ev lin.

I know a few Evelyns here in Ireland and they are all Ev-uh-len.
Obviously a cultural thing!
