Holly maybe

Is this a big no-no?

Maybe middle name?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Carole would be very appropriate and you can be guaranteed no-one else will be calling their child that.

Cies · 28/07/2008 15:44

The (female) chaplain at my secondary school had a dd, born on Christmas Day and named her Holly.

Pity the poor dd, who has a Christmassy name, her birthday on Christmas day and her mum works on that day, doing probably 3 Christmas services!

beansprout · 28/07/2008 15:38

My SIL is Carol on this basis. Have to say, I don't envy her.

EffiePerine · 28/07/2008 15:36

Joy I like a lot

Our Dd was a week late and arrived on Boxing Day. I mentioned names like Noelle and Gabrielle(Gabrielle before she was late), but we decided it felt corny for us.

EffiePerine · 28/07/2008 15:30

DC2 due on the 30th, but as DS was early a Xmas baby not out of the question

my mother insists on calling it 'Tinsel'

SirJimmySeville · 28/07/2008 15:29

Don't do it.

Jesusina - see, it's woeful idea.

Agree, that having a December birthday is hard enough, without a name to prove it.

LadyThompson · 28/07/2008 15:21

I think Holly is too popular but perhaps a nice middle name?

Emanuella?

stleger · 28/07/2008 15:19

I have two children born within a week of Christmas. Ds was due on Christmas day. I'd avoid Christmas names, Christmas birthdays are hard enough. I tried to get a birthday cake in Tescos a few years ago - 'We don't do them at this time of year'...(Lydia is beautiful)

cheesesarnie · 28/07/2008 14:59

dd gave ds2 his middle name as hes just before xmas xmas she decided robin-i love it.

kiskidee · 28/07/2008 14:55

no no no!!

branflake81 · 28/07/2008 14:53

hollyandnoah - I don't suppose you live in a town beginning with L do you? It's just I might know your twin friends as well....

SJisontheway · 26/07/2008 20:02

True story - Friends cousin was born around Christmas. His mum wanted to give him a christmassy name. His dad was from a czech backround and wanted to honour this. So they compromised and called him Wenceslaus! Moral of the story - pick a name you truly love, whatever the time of year

zwiggy · 26/07/2008 19:52

I was due on Christmas day and was going to have the middle name Christina. It is also a family name. As it happened, I was 7 weeks early and my sister, who was born in July 3 years later, got Christina as a middle name instead. My mum really wanted one of her children to have it.

Ivy? Mary?

Love the idea of Angela.

Isn't Robin spelt Robyn for a girl?

I know sisters Robyn and Holly, neither born at Christmas!

pointydog · 26/07/2008 18:14

Hmm. Not a big no-no but it's really not necessary. Unless you come across a very lovely name that doesn't have too obvious a link

minouminou · 26/07/2008 18:07

santa, rudolph
only joking
stick with a name you like....i think people have said this to you just for something to say

differentID · 26/07/2008 16:52

Gabriella

JackieNo · 26/07/2008 16:51

DS was born 3 days before Christmas, and we did consider Robin, but decided not to go down the Christmassy name route.

hollyandnoah · 26/07/2008 16:49

lol it could be so much worse Jules.

rolymoma · 26/07/2008 16:37

my dd was due xmas day (in the end a few days late) but id settled on clementine as i thought it was quite a christmassy fruit - i still chose it even tho not the big day itself
