Middle name dilemma...

Our DD has the same middle name as me and we're expecting DC2 any day. If it's a boy, it will have the same middle name as DH (all the men in his family have the same middle name through the generations).

What do we do if it's another girl? We can't agree on any of the other 'family names' ie grandmothers / baby's aunts etc and it would cause jealousy between them I'm sure, knowing the personalities etc.

Would it be completely daft to give all girlies that we have, my middle name?

What would you do?

No, not the same mn imo.

Give a name that has a special meaning to you both: the name of a best friend, a person you admire, a quality important to you (faith, hope etc), a family name that goes back generations, a favourite book or film character, a memorable place (friend's parents are keen amateur archaeologists and gave her the mn Delphi)

I think it would be daft, yes.

If you want it to have some meaning, you could think of a favourite book or film character? Just for a talking point

I'd give a completely unique middle name iyswim
ds had to have dh's middle name but with dd we were free to use what we liked, if she had ben a ds I told dh that only the first born was carrying on with any stupid traditions
