I LOVE this name, wanted it for DS had he been a girl. I personally don't know any other Ava's...is it really that common? I also really like Ines and Anais...what does the mumsnet jury think?

I have an Ava and she's really beautiful !! Lots of people comment on the name - it is definately becoming popular but I don't mind that. I love that it is derived from Avis - bird. She was like a little chick when she was born!! I still love it.

Isn't Ines/Inez a girl's name in Spanish though?

tommiles001 · 16/07/2008 07:02

Ava's only common among those born after 1990 - ie, kids! Seems like the name has been really popular only in the last decade, despite its famous bearer Ava Gardner: baby name Ava

i know a girl called Ada - very pretty

Lovely names but not sure about Ines for a girl

Jackstini · 14/07/2008 17:27

Really like Ava, Anais reminds me of the perfume I'm afraid and not keen on Ines

FabioUnblogged · 14/07/2008 17:27

J'approve.

Flier · 14/07/2008 17:26

think Ava is lovely. Innes where I live is a boys name, so don't like Ines. Anais is nice, but do prefer Ava.

FoghornLeghorn · 14/07/2008 17:23

I love Ava but DH vetoed this time. Have a niece called Anais and I think it's very pretty

I know a lovely baby called Ava - it strikes me as quite a glamorous name, I always think of Ava Gardner

reethi96 · 14/07/2008 17:20

I know one. It is very pretty. Myleene Klass named her baby Ava last year so I expect it will become more popular as celebrities tend to to start a trend.

Not keen on Ines and Anais though.
