I LOVE this name, wanted it for DS had he been a girl. I personally don't know any other Ava's...is it really that common? I also really like Ines and Anais...what does the mumsnet jury think?

BitOfFun · 03/03/2010 16:34

Ada

boodleboot · 03/03/2010 16:28

I am in Kent and honestly do not know one....but i can't deny those statistics mrsw....doesn't popular just mean that it is a realllllly nice name???

Hayles79 · 03/03/2010 14:47

I love this name but someone I know beat me to it. I suggested Ada to OH and it got a thumbs down.

I love Ava as it is my DD's name! It was not one of my top names when I was pregnant, but when I saw her she just looked like an Ava. Not others round here either, for the moment anyway!

boodleboot · 03/03/2010 08:28

i think it is on a lot of shortlists but i haven't actually heard of anyone who has used it hence i think its popularity is a bit of a myth....it is so pretty and a lot less datable than all the old lady names that are so popular now....plus DH LOVES it {believe me that is sooo rare....}

i am in love with Ava.

I love it, its my daughters middle name, but I know it is fast becoming popular.

lifeas3plus1 · 25/02/2010 21:23

Like how this has jumped from 2008 to 2010!

Wonder if she did call the baby Ava in the end?

Lovethesea · 25/02/2010 20:52

Live next door to one, about 3 years old. I have heard it a fair bit in my area but the number of Eva's, Eve's, Evie's might also be making it seem more familiar to me than it is!

sb6699 · 25/02/2010 16:09

I'm another who loves Ava - it was almost DD2's name but midwife vetoed it! Apparently they are loads around here.

OtterInaSkoda · 25/02/2010 15:56

Anaïs is also associated with Agnes apparently.

OtterInaSkoda · 25/02/2010 15:53

Ines is a version of Agnes I think - and has something to do with lambs. I like it.

I know a couple of Ava's - aged 10 and under. Lovely name.

beccagrace2 · 25/02/2010 15:44

my neice is ava, age 2 the name is getting very popular here and tipped to be in top 5 names soon!

AllieW · 25/02/2010 15:07

Haven't met any but I LOVE the name. It's on our shortlist.

narna · 25/02/2010 12:44

I have a spanish friend called Ines, she is stunning.

Sunshinemummy · 25/02/2010 11:31

Ava is a lovely name but I know a few. Anais Nin would put me off Anais I'm afraid. I love love love Ines. Think it's a really beautiful and unusual name. Ines de la Fresange used to be Karl Lagerfeld's muse and is a gorgeous woman.

boodleboot · 25/02/2010 11:19

I really love this name and am sure it isn't that popular. i dont know any.

mazzystar · 21/07/2008 00:16

I like Ines
v glam
Ava lovely, but definitely popular at the mo, not that that should necessarily put you off
Anais- after Anais Nin the writer? or Anais Anais the rank 80's perfume?

MmeLindt · 21/07/2008 00:00
