Or is 'Ichabod' an acceptable name for fortchcoming son?

We want a Jewish/Hebrew name to go with surname so alternatives welcome, but not Joel/Jacob/Ethan/Caleb etc.

Ichabod just appeals! But why?

Elijah? Joseph? Nathaniel? Abraham?

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/07/2008 10:56

It's sort of cool, but maybe too unusual.

I love Zebulun though, and think that Zeb would be a pretty cool nickname.

Also love Ezra.

singersgirl · 11/07/2008 09:58

Frank is a brilliant name and there aren't many of them about!

ButterflyMcQueen · 10/07/2008 22:08

well i think it is lovely

within a week everyone will think it is lovely too
different names always create a stir but it quickly dies down

elmoandella · 10/07/2008 22:05

you want to call your child a name that will sound like itchy bod in particular accents?

bikerunski · 10/07/2008 21:58

artichokes · 09/07/2008 20:21

Well, I'm going to suggest my usual, which is Ozias, which was used a lot in previous generations of my family. Very old testament, and unusual, but don't think too embarrassing (although lots of people will now come along and tell me otherwise!)

There's so much on this site though, I find it a bit daunting to tackle.

schneebly · 09/07/2008 20:11

erm no don't do it. Lot sof other lovely suggestoins on here though! Saul and Levi are lovely.

SSSandy2 · 09/07/2008 20:09

sorry here

SSSandy2 · 09/07/2008 20:07

Jewish boys names

Eliezer? Looks quite strong to me though not sure how it is pronounced

scanner · 09/07/2008 19:59

Saul is another good one.

chandellina · 09/07/2008 19:57

some sort of pregnancy-induced madness? sorry but the nicknames are just too awful!

bikerunski · 09/07/2008 19:46

Think it's the type of name that sounds better to doting parents than anyone else.

Reuben, Benjamin, Adam?

I'm liking Levi too.

FlirtyThirty · 09/07/2008 18:30

I think it's dreadful - sorry!

herewegoagain02 · 09/07/2008 17:46

Oh yeah, Matthew McConaughhey named his new baby boy Levi, I think it means joined or united. Malachi is a lovely name too.

expatmama · 09/07/2008 17:34

How about Levi?

Comerscroft · 09/07/2008 17:32

On a lighter note, other possibly unfortunate nicknames might include:

'Ickie Dickie'
'Picky Ickie
'Body'

MsDemeanor · 09/07/2008 17:29

Ezra acceptable, so is Malachi.
Ichabod? Oh no.

DarthVader · 09/07/2008 17:27

Malachi is quite popular in these parts, not odd at all!

Ichabod will get a lot of teasing at school I would think though

Comerscroft · 09/07/2008 17:22

Ichabod means 'The glory has departed' and refers to when the Ark of the Covenant was captured by the Philistines (Samuel) -- Wikiedia.
