(I used to work in a backpackers and had a booking for an Antigone with an equally unusual sirname. Thought her first name was lovely so looked it up and was somewhat put off! The girl who turned up was quite exceptionally beautiful - so I think more of her when I hear it. Wonder how many people would think of the original?)

I have a 4 year old Antigone! I studied Classics and as soon as I read Antigone I knew it would be the name of my first Daughter. It's strange so many think she displays unwanted characteristics...moral, brave, just, unwavering, and a kick-ass feminist! What's not to love?!

i love the name i have a 13 month old daughter named antigone and it fits her perfectly! no one miss pernounces it and yes i call her tiggy for short. it's a beautiful name so if you like it go for it!
