Which girl name works best with the middle name Cara?

We’re expecting our first baby in a few months and have decided to keep the gender a surprise, we have our boy name that we are completely set on but have 5 girl names that we just can’t decide between and would love to know peoples thoughts! The top runners are Nell, Daphne, Gracie, Orla and Willow with the middle name Cara, what do people prefer?

I love the name Cara (I'd have that as the first name!). I also love Orla. They are a bit difficult to say together because they have similar sounds but both are lovely names.

I think because the first names are all short and Cara is also short (all 1/2 syllables) they don't 'flow' as well as a long name paired with a short name. BUT full names are so rarely every said aloud that I'd argue flow isn't as important as choosing a first name you like.

If you are bothered by the flow of the name, I think Daphne Cara sounds the best. Grace Cara (rather than Gracie) also sounds nice.

I wouldn’t worry about if the first and middle name go together and no one except new parents say both names together. I’d just pick the first name you like the best. I’d double check they don’t sound silly together and that the initials are ok but other than that it doesn’t matter.

Unless the first and last name combination is likely to be duplicated at some point in her life, the middle name won't get used much.

I don't think any of the names particularly go with Cara, but I like Cara and Nell, Daphne is nice, Willow is ok, Orla sounds better in an Irish accent and Gracie is a bit twee.

@Sunnymay077 ,you need to start your own thread but FWIW, Hudson is the least bad of them IMO but it's a surname, Arlo is faddy and nothingy, and I don't like Theodore at all.

Gracie, Orla and Willow are soooooo popular, if that bothers you maybe it doesn’t! Gracie is so twee I’m not a fan. Fine for a toddler but not a grown up. Nell is cool but doesn’t flow with Cara.

Daphne from your list but I’m not super keen on any of them. Lydia was the first name that came to mind when I read your title.

Cara is quite hard to make work as a middle name. But unless you're planning to use bith often out loud itll be fine.

Cara Nell is much better than Nell Cara for example.

I think Daphne Cara is the only one that a
feels it has a flow.

Orla Cara is a nono, Orla Nell for a future baby though 🥰
