Baby name Rylee

Should I spell Riley as ‘Riley’, ‘Rylie’ or ‘Rylee’? I do really like the spelling ‘Rylee’ but I worry that’s too weird. Does the middle name Kate go well with it? I’m thinking Rylee Kate or Rylie Kate :)

Riley is fine and a normal name. The baby name section can be a bit odd in that perfectly unremarkable names get a lot of hate and strong words whilst names like Ptolemy, calliope and horatio are called ‘fabulous’. It’s a bit obscure.

I think Ptolemy et al get an equal amount of scorn. It's names like Charlotte/Alexander/James/Alice that are mumsnet approved.

DS age 25 did go to school with a boy called Riley. I dislike it for that connection.

I suspect it's become a gender neutral name chosen by young women with a non binary identity.

It's been a unisex name for donkeys years.
Nothing to do with "non binary".

actually ‘Reilly’ is the Irish name and it’s a surname. Comes from the Irish O’Rathaille. It’s in no way a first name in Ireland for either boys or girls.

It’s from Ó Raghallaigh I think.
Ó Rathaille is O’Rahilly.

It’s been used a little as a first name in the last few years (I know a Reilly in school with DD) but it’s definitely not traditional as a first name in Ireland.

So sorry OP, I should have read your update before posting. I think Riley does go with Kate quite well and I’m glad that you’ve decided on the more traditional spelling.
