@Gwenhwyfar , It is used as a 'Welsh' name, as is Alwyn, but they're not Welsh in origin.
They're names that became used when -wyn names were very popular.
I know Welsh men with names like Ian and Alan. They were accepted as 'Welsh' names, but they're not.
I wouldn't particularly consider Ani Welsh either but know an Anni and my grandmother's generation had many Annies.
@ImImmortalNowBabyDoll , so Siân Eleri, every single Eleri I know (and I know quite a few with it as a first or middle name), the casts of Pobol y Cwm and Rownd a Rownd, and everyone I've heard say the name are all saying it incorrectly, despite it being quite obvious from the spelling how to say it?
What reason would there for it to not rhyme with Cwmderi, Pryderi, Ceri, or peri?
Why would it the 'er' not sound the same as the 'er' in niferoedd, telerau, diferu, swpera, or similar words?

It can, and it depends on accent. The ones I know do not say it that way because the 'eu' sound isn't 'eye' or 'aye'.
Hywel isn't 'Howell 'or 'Huw-el', or 'Hugh-el'.

Instead we get Eleri, Angharad, Gwenllian, Geraint, Dewi, Rhian, Rhiannon ... none of which match the brief.
Do you think I could ignore the 'Rhian pronounced Reeanne' or 'Gwenllian pronounced Gwenthian'?
We don't know if OP wants a name that sounds exactly the same when said by a Welsh-speaker and someone with no knowledge at all of Welsh, or would be ok with a name like Catrin said as Catrin and Katryn.
OP might be fine with a name like Huw said as Huw and Hugh.
@TheeNotoriousPIG , there will be some younger girls/women called Carys, and quite a few Dylans (probably pronounced as in Bob Dylan) but the names were extremely popular with the Welsh in the 1960s. If you are in a Welsh-speaking area, you'll probably have a Carys or Dylan in your family and they'll be probably in her 60s. I'd be quite surprised to hear of a baby one, pretty much like I'd be if I heard of a baby Nicola or Martin. I think they probably appeal to parents who want a Welsh name but didn't grow up with friends/family with the names.
Copying your colleagues' pronunciation is fine if you have an ear for it. Many don't, plus you get some who anglicise the name when speaking to non-Welsh speakers. I can think of some Eifions who hate being called 'Avian', and many people don't have an ear for languages even if you do.
@GreenCandleWax , I never said that ll and th are the same same. What I did say was that I don't find it difficult to pronounce ll though Welsh language dogmatists seem to insist it is. 😄
