..Am prepared for all opinions.

I have 2 girls already called Jennifer (5) and Heather (3).

due baby no 3 in 2 weeks, don't know the sex.

stuck on a girls name. ok for a boy.

I like old fashioned, uncommon but not weird or daft names. sort of names that you'd think 'I haven't heard that name for a while'. Also like the fact that there are currently no other jenny or heathers at school.

currently have Louise, Elizabeth (with all it's many abbreviations) and Rosemary, which is the outsider but is REALLY growing on me. but none of them really stand out like the other kids names did.

surname begins with P and is 2 syllables. no irish, welsh or scottish connections, pure english!

what do the panel think!! thanks. Cass

If you like Rosemary then go for it - I know a Rosemary in her 30's who is known as Rosie - I think it's lovely

SusieMc · 25/06/2008 12:51

How about...

  • Juliette
  • Rosanna
  • Marianne
  • Lucille
  • Amanda
  • Susanna
  • Florence
  • Delilah
  • Kathleen
  • Gloria
  • Harriet
  • Hannah
  • Iris
  • Meredith

For the record, I love Elizabeth though!

greenelizabeth · 25/06/2008 12:06

I know of a Rosemary Margaret age 2. But she is always called Rosie.

Louise is lovely. Melanie did nothing for you I gather!?

cass66 · 25/06/2008 10:33

Loads of good ideas, thanks girls.

Love a lot of them but couldn't use them for a variety of reasons (clare, helen, sarah, rachel, judith, rebecca etc).

not sure about Catherine, my hubby likes it. I like Victoria, but he doesn't. I also like Violet, but he vetoed that too. also like Juliet, but again hubby not sure.

I like Susannah (poss without the H for some reason), will ride with that one. Still really like Rosemary, always liked Mary, so Rosemary I guess flows well from that. my main prob with it is it sounds quite grown up - the only Rosemary's I know are over 40, but then again I think that's why I like it. confused???

thanks again and keep them coming. Cass.

Juliet

I have a Kate (not a Catherine) whose middle name is Elizabeth and a Sarah, whose middle name is Rachel. Obviously I love all these names and I think they might fit the sort of thing you are looking for.

We have persevered and avoided Kate becoming Katie (much more popular but not what we wanted).

I had a hankering to spell DD2's name Sara, rather than Sarah, but a friend called Sara said she spent her life telling people how to spell her name, so I relented. I regret it slightly now, as Sarah is an outgoing character and a bit different - I think a name spelt differently would really suit her personality!

Do let us know what you decide!

Melanie or Susannah. Two lovely names that I associate with my own generation but that I don't come across all that much from anybody of any age. Anyway, I think they would go really well with Heather and Jennifer.

Rosemary and Elizabeth are beautiful. I love those, but I suspect they are a little bit more on the up trendwise.

nooka · 24/06/2008 23:54

I think Rosemary goes very well with your other two girls, and if you make it clear that's what her name is you can avoid the more common Rosie/Rose. I know two very nice (adult) Rosemarys. Elizabeth is of course classic and lovely, and Catherine would also work well. In fact there are lots of lovely names that would work well

Loriycs · 24/06/2008 23:20

Loriycs · 24/06/2008 23:18

Just some ideas!

How about Louisa?

kittywise · 24/06/2008 22:25

I have a
Clara,
Lydia and
Rosamund if that's any help!

harpomarx · 24/06/2008 22:23

Judith's nice

Teresa?
Christina?

Of your list I like Elizabeth best, strong and loads of options for nicknames but also suits baby.

I don't much like Louise but Rosemary is quite nice. It will probably get shortened to Rosie though and thus fall into a more popular names category!

btw I still love my dd's name despite the fact I know about 6 others of roughly the same age!

MingMingtheWonderPet · 24/06/2008 22:23

Sarah
Catherine

Nottonightjosephine · 24/06/2008 22:20

Love Rosamund/Rose I have two boys so never had the chance!
