I like the name Ebony Rose. The names go lovely together. Like your boys names too. I agree with previous post about Ruby Emerald etc

What about
Isobel, Ayla , Celine ?
any of those go with Caleb ?

Ayalah is nice - meaning graceful gazelle - it’s Israeli.

Celine makes me think Dion.

Cecilia (patron saint of musicians) nn Cece / Leah

Isabella?

The boys ones are nice. I don’t like the girls ones - makes me think of Paris Hilton and yes naming your white child ‘black’ is weird.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 23/12/2025 15:49

@Calliopespa , But I think it is popular for a reason:
It's popular because it's the current 'go to' middle name for boys.

A lot of my friends have the middle name Anne and like one of them said 'why did my parents bother?'

Anne was more my mum's generation (possibly prompted by Princess Anne?) but tbh I also think that flows well as a ,middle name too. Probably due a resurgence.

Louise was a common middle name for girls when I was young, along with Jane.

awrbc81 · 23/12/2025 16:07

I don’t really like Ebony or Paris, but Rose is one of my favourites.
Isobel Rose is a beautiful name
Ayla and Celine are ok but don’t love them.

Maybe Serena or Selina?

I love Tristan, definitely better than Bradley

Loads of my friends from my era have James as a middle name. I think it was just, if not more, popular when I was a child, as it was when my dc were babies.

Most of the boys I grew up with in the 80's were Sam and Nick (Samuel and Nicholas) and there must have been so many Samuel James and Nicholas James BC at our local registry office.

All names I like though.

Tristan James is lovely op.

You will see the next post after yours was exactly as I had predicted: in came the much-anticipated James is boring/overused comment!

But I think it is popular for a reason: it is a nice name that complements other names well, and if you have meaning behind it in your case, then all the better. It would be my first pick with Tristan.

I'm glad you’ve said this as we were thinking James as a middle name ( it’s my other half’s middle name ) and yes Tristan James does goes well and if it’s a boy it will be that . So glad that decision is made .

As for girls names we are still very stuck so going to take some time to re think , we do like Isobel but we are not sure we love it enough so will consider other names too.

Rose is the most done to death middle name in existence. Please don't saddle her with such a dull name.

James as a boy's middle name is like Rose as a middle name for a girl.

Milliekate38 · 23/12/2025 06:07

Calliopespa · 22/12/2025 22:43

I like both of these suggestions op.

Tristan or Rose.

Ebony is quite quite in a way but I think pp are right in saying CalEB and EBony sounds a bit like Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee.

I like classic names so I'd suggest Tristan James, but there are a couple of posters who will now wade in and say James (and Rose) are overused, but I don't think that matters for a middle name. Middle names are either for a particular meaning/to honour someone or to flow well with the first name,, which I think Tristan James does.

ETA I don't like Paris. If someone has to use it, I'd prefer it on a boy to keep the classical allusion.

Edited

That’s not a great list of names tbh. The girls in particular are awful. I feel sorry for your future daughter.
Tristan is ok. Bit Home & Away in 1992 but it’s the best of a bad lot.
Bradley is a similar vibe. I’m not keen at all sorry.
What about..
Emily/Emma
Sophie/Sophia
Ruth
Amelia
Joseph
Elliot
Noah
Samuel

Love Tristan Ross or Tristan Lex

Ebony Rose is sweet but Ebony said in the same sentence as Caleb is a tongue twister, sorry, it's not good.
Paris is not a name I like.

Other ideas ..
Emma Rose
Felicity Rose
Bonnie Rose
Carys Pomeline
Rose Pomeline
Dimity Rose
Dominica Rose
Anneka Rose
Alanna Rose

Giraffehaver · 22/12/2025 22:48

Good choice with Tristan. Goes so well with Caleb which I love.
How about
Nina
Freya
Ruby
Melody
which I think go with Caleb

Tristan for a boy and Rose for a girl? I don't like any of the other names on your list, but do really like Tristan and live Rose as a first name

Isabelle/Isobel is lovely

ArcticBells · 22/12/2025 18:37

Is Lex a boy’s name? He’d be called Lexi which to me is a girl’s name

ginasevern · 22/12/2025 17:38

How can you possibly choose a solid name like Tristan whilst at the same time contemplating a common and past it's sell by date Bradley? As for Ebony and Paris they connjure up The Only Way is Essex.

urghhh47 · 22/12/2025 17:11

Caleb and

Hannah
Leah
Sarah
Keziah
Rebecca
Eliana

Those would be my suggestions

cantbearsed27 · 22/12/2025 13:44

I really like Tristan, Ebony is really pretty too - what about Briony?

If you like Ebony then I really like Eben as an alternative boys name.

I'd go Alexander/Alexis for boy/girl and have Lex as a nn.
