I really like the name Jude for a boy but MIL said it makes her think of Judy and people would think he was a boy, and now DH does too

Are they mad or is it just me?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I do know a couple of female Judes (short for Judith) but Jude is absolutely fine for a boy. If it's good enough for Thomas Hardy (Jude the Obscure), then it's good enough for me

TooTicky · 07/06/2008 19:22

oops!

TheFallenMadonna · 07/06/2008 19:22

I know male and female Judes. If I saw it written down, I think I'd keep an open mind as to whether it was a boy or a girl. Like I would with an Ashley.

Lovely name I think

TooTicky · 07/06/2008 19:22

No, not at all. Lovely name.

they are mad!

but if your DH is in agreement with her then there aint a lot you can do!

I just checked your profile as I thought you might be a first time Mum. I am SHOCKED to see that you have 2 children already.

Did you learn nothing? Tell no one of your baby name plans.

No one.

Do you hear me?

No one.

no it makes me think of hey jude

I wanted Jude for DD2 had she been born a boy - I love it but DH didn't think it was a "proper" boys name. He wanted something more traditional like Daniel.

Everyone has their opinions on names, obviously if you and DH want to have Jude, have it.
