Does Jude make you think of Judy?

I really like the name Jude for a boy but MIL said it makes her think of Judy and people would think he was a boy, and now DH does too

Are they mad or is it just me?

Jude is a great name. Definitelt Thomas Hardy, not Judy.

I have an old school friend called Jude, a girl, short for Judith. Even so I think it is a very cool name for a boy.

It's kind of along the lines of Eli for a boy. Ellie is a popular girls's name but I think Eli (short for Elias) is such a cool boys name.

I wanted Jude for a middle name if we'd had a boy. But we had girls. makes me think of Jude the Obscure.

Jude is definitely a boy's name. Easy to say and spell, I would go for it.

It does remind me of 'Hey Jude' and the class bullies who used to sing this at a girl named Judith who had learning difficulties.

I have a Jude, who is gorgeous, my fave name ever, however he gets called 'Dude' or 'joodle o'noodle' so I guess everyone makes names their own!

My first thought was Jude the Obscure (which is rather depressing in parts), my second Hey Jude. The last thing I would think of is Judy; despite having an aunt called Judy who sometimes calls herself Jude, I always think of it as a boy's name.

I like it very much.

My DS is called Jude and I love the name! We often lengthen the name and call him Judah.

And I agree with Collision, never ever tell your MIL what you are thinking about. Misinformation is the key here, tell her you are thinking of Heribert Tarquin.

Then she will be relieved when Jude is born

Collision- LOL. Yes, did think that after I had done it. When I had ds1, I told my nan the names we liked and she said 'hmm. Well, you have afew months yet to think of some nice names'!!

Should have learned. Just hopeless at keeping them secret!

btw, I ment to say people would think he was a girl.

Well, there are quite a few names that were good enough for Thomas Hardy that I wouldn't touch with a bargeole, but Jude I like

I do know a couple of female Judes (short for Judith) but Jude is absolutely fine for a boy. If it's good enough for Thomas Hardy (Jude the Obscure), then it's good enough for me
