Tabitha or Paloma?

Evening!

I have two daughters: Matilda & Jemima.

Which of these names would you name their baby sister who is due later this year? Both names go well with our surname.

Matilda, Jemima & Tabitha

or

Matilda, Jemima & Paloma

Struggling for nicknames for Paloma, but have lots for Tabitha. Our daughters are called by their full names by our/ their friends. Although Matilda does get Tilda/Tildy at home and Jemima gets Jemi/Jem.

Any other suggestions? We would like another 3 syllable name that ends in ‘a’.

TIA xx

Tabitha 100%

Emanwenym · 16/10/2025 09:07

Of the two, Tabitha, but agree that it sounds a bit like you've taken names from children's books.

Paloma has a different vibe.
How about Harriet or Allegra?

LeedsZebra90 · 16/10/2025 08:51

Much prefer Tabitha but to put it with Jemima sounds way to Beatrix Potter. (Beatrix would actually go nicely with your other girls).

greglet · 16/10/2025 08:42

I prefer Paloma but think Tabitha goes better with your existing girls’ names.

Love Tabitha!

Enko · 16/10/2025 08:39

Also like Allegra or Lydia

That was my first thought. It all sounds like a gathering of hedgehogs and bunnies inside a tree.

😂 this made me laugh. Yes, it's really twee. I've never got the love for Tabitha. I don't like it at all, nor Paloma.

For the OP I absolutely love Eliza or Louisa.

chunkybear · 16/10/2025 07:04

Love both, I have a Tabitha too! I thought the same about Paloma, no nickname although Lolo may work?! I also had Valentina on my list, but same again for nicknames, I hate Val and Tina. Genevieve too, but dislike Jen and eve. I think Tabitha fits best too with your other girls names

Trallers · 16/10/2025 05:16

Love Tabitha. Also Claudia as a suggestion.

AlwaysAnxious81 · 16/10/2025 03:56

I was trying to think of a name lol it must be late because my name is Tamara and that didn't even come into my head...

I like the name Tabitha but don’t think it goes with Matilda - they’re too similar. So I probably wouldn’t use either!

sidebirds · 16/10/2025 02:23

Tabitha is my joint favourite girls name 👌

LivingTheDreamish · 16/10/2025 02:19

Una paloma blanca! ABBA!

MummaR94 · 16/10/2025 00:20

Matilda, Jemima & Tabitha is absolutely delightful for siblings!

We also have a little girl called Tabitha so we may be slightly bias however it is such a lovely classic name that goes wonderfully with your others!

I love these names but I think having a Jemima and a Tabitha sounds a bit too Beatrix Potter.

That was my first thought. It all sounds like a gathering of hedgehogs and bunnies inside a tree.

Have you been watching traitors!?

Hollyhobbi · 15/10/2025 22:21

Gruffporcupine · 15/10/2025 20:50

I really like both names but feel like Tabitha just "goes" with your other girls names.

Tabby or Bitta is a very cute nickname

Tabby sounds like a cat!
