Although I like more unusual names, having one myself I have gone for more classic names for my daughters and this time have short listed Alice or Lucy (I like many others but DH not very imaginative!. But we both quite like Willow, I think it's pretty but the couple of people I mentioned it to thought it was too 'new agey'. I would like some honest opinions so don't worry about hurting my feelings, I can take it

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

And it makes good baskets too

Thankyouandgoodnight · 04/06/2008 13:47

I love it but we have one

Someone's intial comment on it was 'strength with a willingness to bend', which I thought was lovely.

I think it's a name that would suit whoever the person turns out to be.

It's a gorgeous soft but strong name IMO.

I like Willow. Really lovely. But I am a closet hippy.

hf128219 · 04/06/2008 13:11

Roger Daltrey has a daughter called Willow.

spugs · 04/06/2008 12:49

lotspot · 04/06/2008 12:27

i like it - not so keen on lucy myself, feels too little girly (no offence) just couldnever imagine it grownig with a person

megandtyler · 04/06/2008 00:48

it's a lovely name you could always use it as a second name.my dd's second name is summer as it was a bit too"ramsey street" for a first!

mymblemummy · 04/06/2008 00:40

It's my daughter's name, so obviously I love it.

minniedot · 03/06/2008 20:07

New agey my arse.

It's just a lovely pretty name.

ivykaty44 · 03/06/2008 19:54

I thought Willow the wisp - the 5 min cartoon at the end of childrens tv in the 80's.

The voice was - ahh cant think of his name, dead and very camp and nasely voice.

wonderstuff · 03/06/2008 19:51

lol hully, i think its lovely

Reamhar · 03/06/2008 19:49

Love it was going to be DS2 name if her was a girl, which, obviously he wasn't.

Willow Elizabeth to be exact.

forevercleaning · 03/06/2008 19:48

really beautiful name

dinny · 03/06/2008 19:47

I love it - my dd's middle name is Willow

I've always loved it since I was little and used to sometimes play with Willow Daltrey

hullygully · 03/06/2008 19:46

No one ever wants Elm or Horse Chestnut. It's other-treeist.

ash6605 · 03/06/2008 19:45

It's lovely

Heated · 03/06/2008 19:44

I used to think Willow a pretty name but I now know a woman from east London with a nasal voice who has named her dd Willow; it's like nails down a blackboard every time I hear her use it...

So if your not an adenoidal east Londoner, use it although Alice & Lucy are more classically appealing imo.

PestoMonster · 03/06/2008 19:41

I think Willow is an absolutely gorgeous name.

ib · 03/06/2008 19:40

Definitely Buffy. But then she's pretty cool there so that's OK.
